消費行為會受到所處文化所影響，舉例來說，台灣的產婦，通常都要做月子，很多人也以為，只有台灣產婦才會做月子，其實才不是啊！坐月子的英文，應該比較接近於Postpartum Confinement（產後禁閉），有許多國家都有做月子的習慣，但內涵差異很大。在大陸、台灣，我們稱之為「坐月子」，或者是「做月內」（台語）。在日本，稱之為產後之肥立（産後の肥立ち、さんごのひだち），在韓國，稱為三七（삼칠、三七，即21日），在拉丁美洲，稱為la cuarentena，即四十天的意思。在美國，就比較少有長時間的坐... more
很多消費活動，與消費者的年齡息息相關，例如年輕人喜歡好吃的速食食品，喜歡吃到飽、喜歡炸雞排、喜歡高油脂食物。但中老年人對於大吃大喝、油炸食物、高膽固醇海鮮，可能不感興趣。台灣面臨少子化的問題，將來會有人口老化的狀況。不過，目前消費者的撫養比非常低，因此很有多餘的錢，可以進行各種旅遊或奢侈性的消費。
男女生的消費行為不同，女生喜歡享受逛街的過程，男生則是買了就走。因為生理、心理、社會規範的原因，使得男女生的消費行為存有差異。許多產品，例如女性內衣，店員都是女性為主，因為如果店員是男生，女性消費者可能會感到尷尬。展場的模特兒，啤酒屋熱炒餐廳內的啤酒促銷員，以女性為主，是一種性別的刻板印象。
初一、十五要吃素，這是宗教對於消費行為的影響。聖誕節，是一個宗教節日，但目前的商業氣息其實很濃厚了。我們日常的消費行為，不知不覺的受到很多宗教活動的影響。例如，有些人不吃牛肉，因為有禁忌。各地不同的宗教，衍生很多節日，也有很多的消費活動受到宗教所影響。
您知道台灣大概有多少原住民嗎？您知道台灣大概有多少新住民嗎？身為行銷工作者，必須知道種族對於消費行為的影響。各個種族，有他的獨特文化，行銷工作者必須予以尊重，例如在泰緬邊境的長頸族（巴東族），女性會在脖子上放置很多的銅圈，這些銅圈是無法取下的。行銷工作者或許無法完全體會、了解每個種族，但對各個種族給予尊重，是最基本的態度。
您聽說過馬來西亞的「拿督」、「拿督斯里」嗎？古時候，有社會階級的觀念，也有所謂的「下品無世族，上品無寒門」的說法。但到了現在，真的還存在社會階級的觀念嗎？應該沒有吧！？至少法律上沒有社會階級。可是，社會階級的想法，還是根深蒂固影響著我們的消費行為，是吧！民眾心中所形成的社會階級，不是一個金字塔，也不是一個倒金字塔，而是比較像是一個菱形，也就是說，上階層的人不多，下階層的人也不多，中產階層的人倒是很多。
五分埔與台北101的服飾店，都可以滿足消費者在服飾的需求，但價格差異很大。消費者的財富，不是直接影響消費者的購買數量，而是會影響消費者選擇的產品類型。同樣穿一件衣服，具有財富的消費者，會到台北101來購買產品，不具有財富的消費者，同樣有購買衣服的需求，但會選擇不同價格的產品。很多時候，消費者並不會因為財富增加，而增加購買量。取而代之的，消費者會因為財富增加，而購買比較昂貴的產品。消費者不會因為財富很高，而吃很大份量的午餐、晚餐。消費者會因為財富增加，而吃很高級的懷石料理。
