十七世紀初，在蘇萊曼大帝餘暉散盡之後，懦弱、瘋狂或專橫的蘇丹相繼登場，使帝國的權力結構發生了翻天覆地的變化。 精神錯亂的「穆斯塔法一世」兩度即位又兩度被廢； 年少的「奧斯曼二世」力圖改革卻遭禁衛軍殘忍弒殺； 暴君「穆拉德四世」以極端高壓手段治國； 以及荒唐的「瘋王」「易卜拉欣一世」的放肆統治…… 奧斯曼帝國的皇權走向衰微，女性蘇丹、宦官和禁衛軍等多方勢力輪流上前，共同支撐著一個掙扎求存，如「鍍金囚籠」般的帝國。
當談起奧斯曼皇朝的傳奇時，許多人往往將目光聚焦於那些南征北戰、叱吒風雲的男性蘇丹。然而在蘇萊曼大帝晚年之後的約一個世紀裡，奧斯曼帝國權力的天秤，卻傾向於一群隱身於幕後的女人——她們是帝國的皇后、皇太后，被稱作「女蘇丹」。 蘇萊曼打破不成文的宮廷慣例，迎娶了出身女奴「許蕾姆蘇丹」，即歐洲人所稱的「羅克薩拉娜」。她不僅深得蘇萊曼寵幸，還對帝國政治產生重大影響，甚至改變了奧斯曼皇位的繼承走向。
1566年9月7日淩晨，奧斯曼大軍與匈牙利大戰之時，77歲高齡的蘇萊曼一世在軍帳中駕崩。 幾星期後，蘇萊曼的遺體回到伊斯坦堡，他的死訊正式昭告天下。聞訃之日，連歐洲列國君主亦稱頌他是「足以與所羅門王媲美的偉大帝王」。 蘇萊曼大帝除了武功顯赫，在治國理政方面也同樣令人讚歎。他完善了帝國的法律體系、重視行政規範建設、摒除積弊、賞罰嚴明。

一直都是古今風雲人物既忠實聽眾，聽左好多年，非常喜歡呢個節目，可以學到好多中古+現代歷史野。
其中我最喜歡曾卓然做主持既集數，張衛國同羅永生主持既反而麻麻。之前已有聽眾講過，兩個人鬥插咀，疊聲情況嚴重，爭住講，好影響聽眾。已經好多年黎都係咁，最近講左宗棠既集數仍然係咁。希望兩位見到或節目製作相關人士見到可以改善下！！
另外希望可以聽多啲東南亞、中東或非洲既風雲人物，帶我地認識多啲個世界！
