Thankful for stumbling upon this as I’ve been desiring to be connected to other worship bassists as I’m wanting to develop more in this role at church with no one to really glean from or talk to. Love Jays heart for the “guys like us”

  • I have found my people!

This is about as nichey as a podcast can be that I can totally get on board with in a huge way! Once I discovered it early on I binged the early episodes in one day and now can’t wait for the next one to come out, wish it was EVERY week! As bass players in our churches we are sort of lone rangers and it’s great to feel a part of a greater community with this podcast and learn from other players’ struggles and victories. I love Jay’s heart in keeping it about worship and serving the church but al... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ministry & Bass with Ryan Owens of Trickfish Amps
Q: How did Trickfish come about?
It started from an accidental discovery after watching a video about the Bullhead 1K preamp; Ryan became an early customer and a partner who helped the company grow, especially through NAMM and collaboration with key industry players.
Worship Over Perfection with Megan Pennacchio
Q: What's your approach to preparing for a Sunday, and how do you memorize parts?
Her process involves listening to set lists, memorizing by ear using the Nashville Number System and pentatonic scales, and only then checking charts. This approach helps her stay flexible and focused on worship rather than being glued to a chart.
Worship Over Perfection with Megan Pennacchio
Q: What was your major in college and how did your path unfold?
She studied business at Liberty University, chosen for its versatility while still staying connected to music through the Worship Collective and campus ensembles. She leaned into studio work and collaboration, realizing she could blend business skills with her passion for music.
Worship Over Perfection with Megan Pennacchio
Q: How did you first get into music and what drew you to worship in particular?
Megan started with guitar around age eight, encouraged by a family that valued church and community. A transformative moment came after switching from Catholicism to a non-denominational church, where she could understand the gospel more deeply. This shift naturally steered her toward worship settings, first in youth and Sunday School, then as a church musician.
Faithfully Serving Your Family and Church - Miguel Jimenez
Q: How far in advance do you get the Sunday requests?
The team books in seasons, typically planning three months out, with clear days and people assigned even if song specifics aren't known yet.
