Stopped listening today after a very weird podcast about Vinicius Jr … one of the hosts begins with a whole “oh racism is terrible in all its forms, we must stand up to it whenever we see it” spiel, whenever you hear something like that you know there’s a “but”coming. The other host, Paul, then starts talking about how Vini Jr came from a poor upbringing in Brazil, and he has to get over that and move on and … stop celebrating so much? It’s not quite clear what he did to provoke racist abuse… al... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

WORLD CUP ETC - DISCUSSION: USA Men's Team in Crisis Ahead of Home World Cup?
Q: Tom, all of the great coaches are using small, fast players as false number nines. How did you see the US adjusting in attack and lineup for the World Cup?
The coach experimented with a false nine setup but it was surprising and somewhat mystifying; the team should consider rigidly testing a traditional forward or a more balanced system rather than experimenting too close to the World Cup start.
WORLD CUP ETC - SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Ned Kelly, Former Head of Security at Manchester United - Part One
Q: What are your thoughts on off-field controversies involving ownership and debt at the club?
The debt load and shifting ownership priorities threaten the club's identity; the focus should be on football and supporters, not merely profits or image, otherwise the club risks becoming unrecognizable to its fans.
WORLD CUP ETC - SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Ned Kelly, Former Head of Security at Manchester United - Part One
Q: Did you see that story?
Yes, and it underscores the tension between moving long-time season ticket holders to hospitality areas and public opposition to how ownership is handling fan relationships and the stadium changes.
SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Haiti's Hopes and Dreams, with Jean-Ricardo Compere
Q: How is the atmosphere in Haiti ahead of the World Cup, and are Haitians talking about it in everyday life?
The climate is very energetic and hopeful; Haitians display pride by wearing jerseys and waving flags, and discussions about the World Cup are becoming part of daily conversations as the tournament approaches.
SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Germany's Chances & More - Part Two
Q: What drew you to Rollins College and the US college system?
All three guests describe a mix of personal connections, agency opportunities, and the appeal of a structured, professional environment that complemented their athletic focus with academics, ultimately choosing Rollins for its overall package and campus experience.
