We are Words and Whiskey, your new intoxicating weekly book club. This project began during the doldrums of 2020 as a way for Krossland and PJ to explore fiction that his co-host knew he'd enjoy. We also hope it encourages others to join in, follow along, and probably make fun of our opinions too. We also adore the craft of alcohol, and craft alcohol. Alcohol craft? We hope you enjoy stepping into... more

A really great podcast! I am loving the Empire of Silence pods and now going back through the catalog currently. If you like the books the cover you should definitely listen!
It has been a joy to listen along for in-depth breakdowns of some amazing book series. While listening it’s like you are dropped down in a book discussion with friends.
The Jokes and Cocktails are the perfect cherry on top of an already thoroughly enjoyable show.
This show is making me read these books so fast. Already finished the first two and keep grinding away every knight. Started with The Blade Itself and trying to get caught up but not sure if I will. I really enjoy their insight and the recipes on the website. Keep up the great work.
Got to the fifth book of the Red Rising series (Dark Age) and was so desperate to discuss, I decided to find a matching podcast so I could at the very least listen to others talking about it!
Started at your first episode — which made for a lovely review of the whole series. Thank you for your company as I now read through Lightbringer! 😀
As they mentioned at the end of the ‘Dark Age’ reread somehow Kross never spoiled anything for PJ. A perfect companion podcast I started with the Red Rising series and will even check out other books they read as I love their conversations and insight.
Love the drink recommendations too
Just a great all around podcast

Two hosts explore fiction with a drink-in-hand approach, frequently pairing in-depth book analysis with lively banter and cocktail chatter. Episodes span popular fantasy and sci-fi series, focusing on character psychology, worldbuilding, and thematic threads, while sprinkling pop culture riffs and personal anecdotes. A distinctive angle is the consistent emphasis on craft whiskey and social vibes, which helps translate complex storytelling into accessible, club-like discussions. This mix of rigorous literary talk and friendly, laid-back vibes makes it a solid pick for listeners who enjoy thoughtful analysis alongside humor and a shared appreciation for drinks.
