  • Really worth to sit and listen.

Dani is a great interviewer. Insightful and relaxed conversations like you're right there in the room with her and the interviewee. Dani knows the book back to front and knows the right questions to put to the author. She has a great showcase of interviews with some great authors.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

797. Dani Vee and Mohammed Massoud Morsi - The Hair of the Pigeon, humanity and pathways to publishing
Q: What was your writing process like for a book that blends fact and fiction?
The process started with real experiences from Lebanon and the journalist's life, then evolved through drafts and feedback from colleagues and editors; the author describes balancing factual events with imaginative storytelling, including a residency in Bangladesh to connect global perspectives and pushing through multiple revisions before publication.
797. Dani Vee and Mohammed Massoud Morsi - The Hair of the Pigeon, humanity and pathways to publishing
Q: Can you tell me what is special about this book to you?
The Hair of the Pigeon is special because it is a long, personal narrative built on true stories from the Middle East, written from a narrow point of view (Rasen's) while telling the broader story of Sama and the impact of war on young lives, aiming to break stereotypes and offer a human face to regional conflicts.
796. Dani Vee and Helena Pantsis - Mother Salad and the female experience
Q: Tell me about Girl Flesh and where that story came from.
Girl Flesh started from an image of a sheep in girl flesh, exploring objectification and the voice (or lack thereof) given to the girl by the male viewpoint, with the narrator's perspective foregrounding discomfort and critique.
796. Dani Vee and Helena Pantsis - Mother Salad and the female experience
Q: What makes this collection special?
It's essentially a reflection of me—the weird, the strange parts of me collected into the book, and the work speaks to broader states of identity that readers can interpret in their own way.
793. Dani Vee and Louise Milligan - Multi-generational women, feminism and Shellybanks.
Q: What is special about Shellybanks as a crime fiction book?
Louise Milligan explains that Shellybanks centers on character and sense of place, particularly the Irish setting and the generational bonds of women, setting it apart from typical crime fiction.
