  • Please stop interrupting each other and end the W&C Reconsidered

I’ve made the decision to cancel my subscription. I’ve been enjoying the podcast for a while, and it seems like interrupting each other has gotten worse. I was just listening to the Technology Outpacing Law episode and you read a review of someone critiquing you both, but Amy specifically for interrupting, but you both do it. You both hardly allow a sentence to be said before interrupting with questions that likely wouldn’t be necessary if you just let each other finish, and then ask questions. ... more

  • The “Revisiting” Cases is frustrating for loyal listeners

I want to say that I have the utmost respect for both hosts. I am an attorney and have worked in criminal law in the past. I quite enjoy the deep dive this podcast goes into the criminological aspects each story. Usually, this is done with respect and a clear passion for the work!

However, it now seems that every single update from yall is a “case revisited.” It is simply not interesting, especially for long time listeners. These stories are already published and listenable—why do a “recap” o... more

  • Faces for TV and ASMR Voices

After listening to the latest episode and literally every episode leading up I had to leave a review. I love listening to these ladies discuss cases. They’re knowledgeable, of course, and cover these cases with their own takes. I thought hearing that they had voices for the written word was humorous because I love listening to them talk. I have to say I looked up pictures of them before watching any videos so just had, in my head, the idea of whose voice belonged to who. When I saw a documentary... more

Q: If you get a sentence of 25 to life, are you on supervised release for the remainder of your life after release?
Yes, in many cases, if released after serving initial years, individuals may remain on supervised release for the remainder of their life, depending on the jurisdiction and specific sentence terms.
W&C Reconsidered: Shayna Hubers
Q: Have you looked into cases from Ireland that might be similar or relevant to this discussion?
The hosts discuss potential Ireland cases, with one host mentioning Elaine O'Hara as a possible future topic and noting broader interest in international cases due to differing laws and procedures.
W&C Reconsidered: Shayna Hubers
Q: What are your thoughts on trial penalty?
The guest explains that the trial penalty arises from plea-bargaining incentives, arguing for radical reform of the system given the high rate of plea bargaining and its punitive consequences for exercising a trial right.
Sandra Birchmore
Q: How do you reconcile believing victims with presuming the innocence of defendants in sexual assault cases?
In the courtroom and through careful investigation, you believe the parties unless there is reason to disprove them, and rely on evidence and due process to determine guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
W&C Reconsidered: Asunta Fong Yang Basterra
Q: How effective is restorative justice for adults, and can it work for early education environments?
Restorative justice can reduce recidivism for many offenses when implemented with dignity and proper process, though certain offenses like sexual offenses, hate crimes, and domestic violence may be resistant; its effectiveness depends on accurate tailoring to the offense and context.
