  • SOLID.

This is excellent. After a couple episodes, I got ahold of “Healing What You Can’t Erase.” After two rounds of that audiobook, I bought the hard copy. I too suffered horribly during that same season Christopher did. The topics covered in his book and podcast are gritty and raw and healing. I’m a regular now, maybe a groupie. 😉 This is deepening my journaling as well as my mysterious journey with our Savior, Jesus Christ.

This Is Why You Keep Having the Same Argument. Jason VanRuler on the Wound Behind Every Fight You Can't Escape.
Q: What are the five communication styles and how do they typically function in conflicts?
The five styles are Peacemaker, Advocate, Thinker, Harbor, and Spark. Each has a different default focus (peace, justice, logic, feelings, energy), and the key is recognizing how each style can help or hinder in a given moment, adjusting to connect rather than win.
This Is Why You Keep Having the Same Argument. Jason VanRuler on the Wound Behind Every Fight You Can't Escape.
Q: What changes in the room when connection starts finally replacing the defensiveness in the shadow side of styles?
A noticeable shift occurs toward asking more questions and seeking understanding rather than delivering monologues, which helps both sides feel heard and can break the cycle of defensiveness.
Your Jesus Is Too Small. Kyle Idleman on the Domestication of Jesus, Weird Subculture Christianity, and Why a Comfortable Savior Can't Save You.
Q: Why is it important to read the Gospels in a community rather than in isolation?
Reading with others helps prevent an overly individualistic interpretation and aligns understanding with the broader story of the kingdom, encouraging action in love and justice beyond personal belief.
Your Jesus Is Too Small. Kyle Idleman on the Domestication of Jesus, Weird Subculture Christianity, and Why a Comfortable Savior Can't Save You.
Q: How should pastors handle preaching about uncomfortable truths without driving people away?
Pastors should press for deeper commitment and discipleship, using courage and accountability from mentors to ensure they don't soften Jesus into a mere comfort-provider, while still showing empathy to those in pain.
Selective Obedience is KILLING Your Faith. Hosanna Wong on Confusing the Practices of Jesus with Jesus Himself, Selective Obedience, How We Make Legalism Cool, The Role of Hiddenness and Crushing, and the 6 Roadblocks to Connecting with God
Q: What do you see as the biggest risk when believers focus on practices over relationship?
The risk is losing intimacy with Jesus and turning faith into a checklist or performance, which can lead to burnout, pride, and a culture that values appearance over genuine transformation.
