  • Where has this been all my life?!

So I just recently discovered this podcast and human and every once in a while, I have to pause an episode to like… Let it sink in. It speaks so much truth to my heart, but even when my rational, former Mormon mind says “too beautiful to be possible,” her words resonate, and I feel truth. My background means that I find hero/leader worship or “gurus” or that sort of energy really gross, but Ms. Emily feels more like a wise sister, and I am so here for this. Really grateful I found this podcast! ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

113. Why Isn't Everyone Getting Fit in 5 Minutes? with Ulrich Dempfle
Q: What would be different if everyone adopted five-minute workouts?
If broadly adopted, we would see a population that is generally healthier, with longer life expectancy, more energy, and greater overall well-being. The host and guest emphasize that making fitness more accessible could have wide-reaching positive effects on society and daily mood.
113. Why Isn't Everyone Getting Fit in 5 Minutes? with Ulrich Dempfle
Q: How should someone sequence workouts if they have limited time?
Prioritize the high-reward, low-time approach first—two to three five-minute Rehit sessions per week—then add brief, multi-joint strength work on other days. This stacking maximizes fitness, strength, and metabolic health efficiently while respecting time constraints.
113. Why Isn't Everyone Getting Fit in 5 Minutes? with Ulrich Dempfle
Q: What about hormones and perimenopause?
Short, intense sprints can influence hormonal production and metabolic pathways in beneficial ways without the catabolic effects often associated with long endurance efforts. Prioritizing sprint intervals alongside resistance training can help maintain or improve muscle and bone health during perimenopause.
113. Why Isn't Everyone Getting Fit in 5 Minutes? with Ulrich Dempfle
Q: Why is zone 2 training still discussed if Rehit is so efficient?
Zone 2 training isn't inherently bad, but evidence suggests it isn't the optimal approach for the general population to maximize VO2 max or strength. Rehit can deliver more pronounced cardiovascular and metabolic benefits in less time, while zone 2 may require more time and volume to achieve comparable gains for many people.
113. Why Isn't Everyone Getting Fit in 5 Minutes? with Ulrich Dempfle
Q: What is Rehit and how does it differ from traditional HIIT or endurance training?
Rehit stands for Reduced Exertion, High Intensity Interval Training. It uses very short, all-out efforts (two 20-second sprints) within a five-minute session, triggering a strong biological signal with minimal time and overall exertion. Unlike long endurance workouts, Rehit activates key pathways (e.g., AMPK, PGC1a) efficiently, producing meaningful VO2 max and metabolic improvements with far less volume.
