Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Truly Made in America - with Founder of Red's Burritos Mike Adair
Q: How do you handle scaling production while maintaining the standards you started with?
Hire great people, delegate, and build a leadership team you trust. You can't do it all yourself; invest 10-30% of your time in recruiting and developing the right talent to sustain quality and growth.
Truly Made in America - with Founder of Red's Burritos Mike Adair
Q: What advice would you give entrepreneurs trying to differentiate themselves in a crowded market?
Focus relentlessly on the product, execute at the highest possible quality, and keep customers—retailers and end consumers—as the center of what you do. Great product simplifies marketing and selling, even in a tough, saturated landscape.
Curing Blindness with Brad Doerschuk
Q: What role do AI and technology play in your vision for accelerating treatments for retinal diseases?
AI can accelerate discovery and process optimization, but it won't replace the human element or the need for collaborative, long-term research. The focus is on augmenting capabilities while preserving the culture and operational excellence of the organization.
Curing Blindness with Brad Doerschuk
Q: How do you view risk in entrepreneurship, and what calculations do you perform before taking the leap?
Risk is about calculated steps, not reckless bets. The emphasis is on understanding the math of the business, curating the right partnerships, avoiding unnecessary external dilution, and ensuring you have the commitment and resilience to endure the inevitable setbacks.
Curing Blindness with Brad Doerschuk
Q: What inspired you to start your own company, given your background in big pharma and CROs?
The drive came from recognizing a real problem: the limited and often frustrating experience with CRO partners in pharma, and the opportunity to build something that could streamline drug development on a global scale while focusing on diseases with high unmet needs, like retinal disorders.
