  • Great show and insightful topics

However I would definitely enjoy the episodes more if the guests would actually come into the studio for the interview instead of talking over the phone, because it’s often impossible to understand anything they say at all. And that’s the only reason for me to grant 3 out of 5 starts instead of all 5.

  • Daily?

Wharton Business Daily is the title, but lacking daily content. Is content being recorded and subsequently not posted? Seems like this podcast leans one direction politically so wondering if missed episodes are a result of unfavored opinions or discussions?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Reverse Morris Trust Deals Demand Strategic Discipline
Q: Emilie, can you explain what a reverse Morris Trust is and why it's considered unique?
A reverse Morris Trust combines a spin-off and a merger in one transaction, where the spun-off unit ends up owning a majority stake in the merged entity and the acquiring party becomes a minority partner, which preserves tax advantages if rules are followed. This structure imposes discipline on partner selection and ownership arrangements, making the deal's fit and scale crucial.
Climate Regulation Rollbacks and the Rise of Nuisance Lawsuits
Q: What is it that the administration believes is the benefit of taking this action in the first place?
The guest explains the regulatory framework: repealing the endangerment finding would constrain the EPA's ability to issue greenhouse gas regulations, shifting leverage away from federal standards and potentially reducing costly compliance burdens for industry.
Markets React to Iran Tensions and Rate Uncertainty
Q: Jeremy, what should investors be watching right now given the Iran tensions and potential deal outcomes?
Investors should monitor the probability and timing of any deal, potential shifts in oil and energy prices, and how the Fed might respond to incoming data if the economy strengthens or cools. A deal could trigger a strong short-term rally, while unresolved tensions could keep volatility elevated; in either case, watching inflation trends, energy inventories, and policy signals will be key.
Measuring the Impact of Europe’s Conservation Targets and Policies
Q: What implications do these findings have for U.S. conservation policy, and could Europe's approach be adapted here?
The findings raise questions about transferring a purely quota-based policy to the U.S., suggesting that restoration-focused policies may be more impactful, and highlighting differences in governance that could affect applicability.
Measuring the Impact of Europe’s Conservation Targets and Policies
Q: How do researchers measure the impact of conservation policies across Europe, and what do satellite data reveal about greening trends?
Researchers track land protection status and compare greenness indicators derived from satellite data, nightlights, and vegetation changes to determine whether greening aligns with protection or with other economic and policy factors.
