  • Awesome

So thankful to have clear, relevant, biblical teaching, without showmanship... love the way these pastors are dedicated to preaching God’s word, not elevating themselves. Thank you Matt and Westside.

  • Thank you

Thank you Matt and Norm and all the Westside leadership for seeking God and sharing his word with such thoughtfulness and humility. And thank you for not mincing words or shying away from uncomfortable truths. I miss Westside deeply, but am soo grateful for these podcasts- been sharing them all over Australia and Asia and they have blessed not just me but so many of my friends!

  • Grateful for this Podcast

Norm is clearly one of my favourite teachers in Canada. I would encourage anyone to listen and gain a deeper understanding of the Bible and its application in 2018 under Norm and his team of pastors at Westside.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Q&R - Walking in God’s power, the authority of Jesus, & introducing the “power” gifts. Part 4
Q: Do the gifts still operate today or have they ceased?
There is no biblical line showing the gifts have ceased; they continue to operate beyond the original apostles, and cessationist arguments miss the broader biblical and historical pattern of the Spirit moving in the church.
Q&R - Walking in God’s power, the authority of Jesus, & introducing the “power” gifts. Part 4
Q: What does it mean to step into the authority of Jesus?
Abiding in Jesus and learning to move in His authority are inseparable; as believers abide, their desires align with God's, and they can step into things in Jesus' name.
Q&R - Walking in God’s power, the authority of Jesus, & introducing the “power” gifts. Part 4
Q: What spiritual gift do you think is the most rare?
The gifts that are the rarest are typically the ones that are neglected the most.
Q&R - Discovering your spiritual gifts & introducing the “love” gifts. Part 2
Q: First question, how do I know my spiritual gifts?
Discovering gifts happens by observing what evokes passion or righteous anger, seeking input from the body, and testing options in community, then praying and narrowing down to a few gifts confirmed by others.
Q&R - Why is spiritual maturity such an important part of our discipleship? - Part two
Q: My question specifically is, how are spiritual gifts impacted either negatively or positively by our spiritual maturity?
Spiritual gifts become more fruitful and effective when believers are abiding in the Spirit and bearing the fruit of love; without abiding, gifts can function but lack genuine love and may be misused. True fruitfulness depends on the living relationship with God.
