Jake Johnson (New Girl, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) and Gareth Reynolds (The Dollop) don't feel qualified to give strangers good advice. Most of their friendship over the last 15 years has been based around dumb bits, but they do (for better or worse) want to try to help people out. Like your friendly local bartender or your tipsy uncle at a family gathering, Jake and Gareth are on the ca... more

  • Meh

I really want to like this show. Early episodes were sweet and earnest and totally bananas. Now, the hosts are meaner, they’re clearly doing stuff for “production” and have veered from therapy lite to shaming and bullying guests. It’s less fun.

  • LOVE this podcast so much, but the BF call rubbed me the wrong way.

I love love loveeeee this podcast so much, but the call with Casey Wilson about breast feeding rubbed me the wrong way. Women should be able to breastfeed their babies comfortably without being sexualized or demeaned. I understand that the person doing the breastfeeding in this scenario is a bit “extreme” for some, but if YOU are uncomfortable or feeling some type of way sexually, that is 100% your issue. Let women breastfeed in peace, damn. Ok, off my soapbox now, love this podcast so much.

  • Too much banter

Lord I like this podcast too much but they spend way too much time talking before starting the actual show. It’s boring.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

298: Sexy Baby & Blame It on the Cheese (with Murray Bartlett)
Q: So, to succinctly ask my question, how do I get my wife to stop calling our infant son Sexy Baby?
The panel suggests reframing the nickname issue by first acknowledging the discomfort it creates, then pivoting to a stronger, more mainstream nickname plan and finally presenting a detailed, respectful PowerPoint to illustrate why the current nickname is problematic and how alternative nicknames could work.
WEIRD Here To Help: Fairy Ring Hoax & 90-Year-Old Nemesis
Q: What is going on, sister?
Mary Claire asks for guidance on the fairy ring; Steve and Eric guide her to consider sociocultural folklore engagement, caution against outright hoaxing, and propose practical, community-oriented approaches.
295: Confronting The Whistler & Picker Flicker
Q: What should Luke do about the whistler coworker to avoid confrontation while addressing the issue?
Suggest a phased plan: document the disturbances, make a calm, private approach to the boss, and, if needed, propose a respectful message or discussion with the whistle-blower to set boundaries without creating a hostile environment.
292: Warzone Burger Bowl & Johnny's Got A Bad Back
Q: What can I do to keep focus or make the gaming feel less isolating while I still bring him meals?
Establish a shared dinner window; on the nights you don't serve food in the room, do your own thing in a different space, and consider having him bring you dinner one night a week to keep balance and connection.
292: Warzone Burger Bowl & Johnny's Got A Bad Back
Q: How do I interrupt his gaming without scaring him to death?
A calm, pre-arranged cue like a timer or buzzer, with a respectful signal that dinner is ready, works better than a loud scare mid-game, and you can coordinate a specific time for meals so you both feel seen.
