Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Transcending Hate w/Arno Michaelis (former white supremacist)
Q: What caused you to leave the extremist world?
Exhaustion from the endless cycle of hate, combined with inner conflict and a powerful realization from interactions with people who challenged the hate, ultimately led to leaving the movement.
Raheel Raza on Muslims and Jews in an Age of Tension
Q: Do all Jews hate Muslims?
Raheel explains that not all Jews hate Muslims; many are scared due to the current climate, and trust is built through direct contact and dialogue; a litmus test for progressives includes belief in Israel's right to exist, gender equality in mosques, and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people.
Marina the Marathon Princess: All Miles, All Smiles
Q: Please tell us about yourself. What do you do and how did you get there?
Marina describes her economics background and banking experience, then explains how she shifted to marathon running as a lifestyle, traveling the world, and turning endurance into a business through social storytelling and events.
Brianna Wu - It's Time To Change The Left
Q: I recently did a DNA test and wonder how many generations back you have to have a Jewish ancestor to be considered Jewish.
The halakhic stance focuses on whether a person's mother is Jewish, but I support a broader view where someone feels a sense of belonging and chooses to be part of the Jewish community, including patrilineal and reform perspectives; it's less about a strict generation count and more about commitment to the tribe and community.
Everything Misunderstood About Iran - Shay Khatiri
Q: Having done the research that you've done, what do you make of the current situation between how Israel is framed in the West?
The Western framing often lacks nuance; people misinterpret Israeli-Gaza dynamics and the historical context of distrust in Palestinian governance, while not fully grasping the ongoing hardship Israelis live with and the complexity of regional politics.
