I owned a video shop in the 80’s, and this is SO much my sort of podcast. It’s prompted me to go back and give a rewatch to those hidden gems that I’ve long since forgotten. You don’t even need to constantly pause to Google something, as Patrick gives a hell of a thorough run down at the end, with all the information that you need about the actors future projects, music, production notes etc.. While the Eighties are a naturally great slice of cinema to sink one’s teeth into, I could listen to the crew at Vintage Video review anything. Patrick, Jesse and Richard not only have tremendous rapport, but their experience in the film industry brings a lot to movie reviews that are already thoroughly researched and pleasant to listen to. Highly recommended!
I understand that none of the podcasters were alive when these movies were released or too young to have experienced the cultural context, but it’s overwhelming to have to forgive that aspect so much no matter how much I want a podcast to cover these movies. Sadly it ends up making this a fumbling synopsis of each movie with very little perspective. I gave it a three for how much I want to like this podcast and how hard it can be making it through it.
