  • Not US Soccer

Highlight more than the highest levels and maybe I’ll listen to an episode before marking as played. GRASSROOTS! You’ve got a daily podcast with endless potential if you talk about and share the stories of local soccer in this country. Feels weird it needs to be said to soccer’s NGB but here we are.

  • Love Kling, need more clarity

I loved the first episode with Kling. I started the episode that was looking forward to the World Cup, only to realize it was the Men’s World Cup. Would love that clarity moving forward since this is a podcast for all the US teams!

On that note, can we get some U23 coverage?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jaedyn Shaw talks family, food, and fashion
Q: What does soccer mean to you?
Soccer is a platform to live out her faith and to impact others, while staying connected to her family and identity beyond the field.
Kling Goes to Referee Camp
Q: Jane in New Jersey asks how the role of an outside back has evolved in the women's game and what separates good from elite players now.
The guest explains that outside backs are increasingly required to excel in 1v1 defending while also contributing to build-up and attacking phases, with elite players mastering positioning, vision, and the ability to break lines and deliver final passes while maintaining defensive integrity.
Tobin Heath: Prodigy, Artist, Architect
Q: How did winning a World Cup change your life?
Heath explains that the 2015 win transformed not only the players but the entire landscape of women's sports, accelerating visibility and setting the stage for future monetization and branding, though the team wasn't fully prepared for the commercial shift and the scale of attention.
100 Days Until the World Cup with Mauricio Pochettino
Q: What role does federation support play in elite team performance?
He argues that strong federation backing is crucial because it takes care of logistics, family support, and recovery resources, allowing players to concentrate on performing at the highest level.
100 Days Until the World Cup with Mauricio Pochettino
Q: How does this roster development approach differ from his time as a player?
He explains that as a coach, the focus is on long-term preparation and managing a larger pool of players, creating competition to elevate the entire group, and avoiding reliance on players rather than building a collective identity.
