Robert Butler’s NIGHT OF THE JUGGLER is not what the title makes it sound like.

It sounds like some kind of bizarro New York neo-noir fairytale, like STREETS OF FIRE (1984) or AFTER HOURS (1985), but it’s far more grounded than that: An ex-cop (Jam... more

  • Endearing, interesting, smart.

The hosts of this show are simultaneously incredibly endearing and affectionate eye roll dorky. The first episode takes about 20 minutes to hit its stride but once it does it’s engaging, interesting, and informative.

The hosts themselves give a point of view that feels really genuine and knowledgeable. This combined with the tie to a Minneapolis icon like the Trylon and a dynamic that can only be found when longtime friends talk about things they love makes this podcast singular and awesome.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 349: THE DIRTY DOZEN (1967)
Q: Aaron, how do you feel about this?
I kind of like that in a cynical way, if this were made by Sam Peckinpah in the 70s, I think we would get this more deliberately on screen.
Episode 349: THE DIRTY DOZEN (1967)
Q: What did you guys think about Maggott and his contributions to this narrative?
I think it's important that Maggott's in this movie. I just think that the emphasis is on the wrong syllable, we don't really see how Lee Marvin made a big mistake letting him stay.
Episode 349: THE DIRTY DOZEN (1967)
Q: Harry, you had experience with this movie, or no? And was the balance of action to training sort of a sticking point for you?
I liked it a fair bit less watching it not in theaters. Maybe that's just a byproduct of the natural sort of what it feels like to watch this in a theater versus at home.
Episode 349: THE DIRTY DOZEN (1967)
Q: Cody, how do you feel about The Dirty Dozen?
I liked watching it. It was part of the The Nazis We Hate These Guys series, so that was a ripe opportunity. The film is a lot of guys and I would say are my guys.
Episode 332: YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (1974) with Bob Buel
Q: Who is your favorite guest you've had on the podcast so far?
Bob highlighted working with guests like Brennan Lee Mulligan, Zach from the Try Guys, and Bill Oakley from The Simpsons.
