  • Janet

Every follow up just seems like Janet is upset and offended about something. Maybe she isn’t cut out for this. It is exhausting to listen to her have a meltdown for 20 minutes every week.

  • All for promo

I started listening at the very beginning and I believed in bob. Then I was a bit put off by the west Memphis three investigation. He said it was for the victims but he was proving the three that are out are Vincent fore the sake of a possible hbo show. The pandemic hit and he just quit the case after the accused died when he had been saying it was for her mom who would not want her daughter as the killer of record when not true. I felt sad as mother that it was dropped. Then came the intervi... more

  • Better Every Season

I’ve been listening to this podcast for several years now, and I’ve even gone back to listen to previous seasons. Every year, the production gets better, but we shouldn’t just judge this podcast on production. Several people are out of jail because of this podcast. Several more have their cases being helped by the Innocence Project. Bob Ruff isnt just a podcaster. He’s an actual Justice Warrior who gets results, and we as an audience get to listen in real time as he does so.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S18 Ep15: Dr. Amy Returns
Q: What did Amy learn from working with exonerees like Ed Ates about rebuilding life after release?
She emphasizes the importance of sustained support networks, financial stability, and the role of families and communities in helping exonerees reintegrate, with concrete examples of housing and relationship rebuilding that can dramatically affect outcomes.
S18 Ep15: Dr. Amy Returns
Q: How did Amy first become involved in wrongful conviction work, and what drew her to the reentry focus?
Amy describes a long-standing passion rooted in early exposure to wrongful conviction issues, her work with exonerees, and a pivot toward reentry research to address what happens after exoneration, including the social and systemic barriers exonerees face.
S18 Ep11: Dr. Amy Shlosberg - Women & Crime
Q: How did you first get involved with Women & Crime and what drew you to the Lavina Johnson case?
Amy discusses her background in criminology, the impact of wrongful convictions, and why Lavina Johnson's case is a compelling example of potential systemic failure and investigation that warrants further scrutiny.
S18 Ep24: Heather Lewis - Bail Reform
Q: What is the difference between cash bail and bonding, and why does it matter?
Cash bail requires the full amount to be paid upfront; using a bondsman only trades a 10% upfront fee for the bond while the remainder is covered by the bondsman, but that 10% is non-refundable, so it's critical to understand the financial implications and not just the immediate release.
S18 Ep24: Heather Lewis - Bail Reform
Q: How does your bail fund fit into this model?
The bail fund posts affordable cash bail (often up to $5,000) to allow individuals to fight their cases from home, maintain employment and housing, and participate in court while receiving community support, all without claiming to offer legal advice.
