Trapping Q & A #107
Q: With what I currently have, I have no shock springs or split rings. Are shock springs necessary for coyote trapping?
Yes, they are recommended as they can provide benefits in terms of reducing pull out rates and being easier on the animals.

Not really; even serious trappers often don't worry about it and many don't wear gloves during setting.

Q: Does pan pressure need to be changed due to species you are trapping?
Yes, lighter tension is typically used for smaller animals and can be heavier for larger species to ensure better catches.
