  • Finally!!

Finally a person I can relate to as a Christian that is real. I didn’t know how insidious OCD was present in my life until I spiraled out of control. I started reading Mark’s books “I will not Fear” and currently reading The OCD healing journey. Mark has hit the nail on the head. I can relate with every single chapter so much that I smile that someone has put into words what I have felt for so long. I enjoy hearing your podcast and laugh at my “goofiness”. By the way that “church lady” cracks m... more

  • Real, Practical, Balanced, Kind

I’ve had symptoms of OCD periodically off and on throughout my life, with periods where it has been particularly debilitating. Recently hearing Mark’s story and another pastor recovering of OCD felt like people having a window into my brain and helped me realize that this was an area I really needed to focus on for my spiritual growth. I’ve started reading through the OCD Healing Journey by Mark and really appreciating it. I’m really thankful for his balanced approach and seeing he and Melissa p... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

🔴 ROCD Q&A 8: Intimacy and Commitment Fears | God Distortions | The Root of ROCD | Sexual Intrusive Thoughts
Q: How can someone prepare for engagement when ROCD is present, and what practical steps help maintain relationship health during the engagement period?
Be compassionate toward yourself, understand that anxiety can be part of the process, and continue practical relationship work—communication, boundaries, and mutual support—while engaging. Don't chase idealized timelines; instead, focus on growing together in love and character.
🔴 ROCD Q&A 8: Intimacy and Commitment Fears | God Distortions | The Root of ROCD | Sexual Intrusive Thoughts
Q: What should I do when intrusive thoughts about a partner feel real, such as concerns about fidelity or orientation, and how do I respond without feeding them?
Acknowledge the thought as an intrusive pattern, remove urges to argue or confess the content, and redirect attention toward compassionate action and outward love for the partner. Practice letting thoughts pass and stay engaged in your relationship rather than ruminating.
🔴 ROCD Q&A 8: Intimacy and Commitment Fears | God Distortions | The Root of ROCD | Sexual Intrusive Thoughts
Q: Have you helped people who are getting to know someone over the internet via video call and text, and how is this affected by OCD or obsessive tendencies?
Yes. Virtual dating presents the same ROCD dynamics as in-person interactions; build through conversations, focus on what you want, and avoid letting 'God will tell me' checks drive the decision. Start with clear questions about the relationship, talk openly, and move forward despite uncertainty.
🔴 Complaining in the Bible is Not What You May Think | Emotional Immaturity | Fawning, People Pleasing and OCD
Q: What advice would you give to someone dealing with OCD in a work context?
Pursue ongoing OCD-focused treatment, practice exposure to feared situations, and aim for a 'good enough' standard rather than perfection, while recognizing responsibility for your growth and seeking support from trusted professionals and community.
🔴 Why do I Struggle with Condemnation? | Reading the Bible with Distortions | Free to Make Decisions
Q: How should a believer understand salvation and warnings in scripture without spiraling into anxiety or scrupulosity?
The host argues for reading Scripture in its broader relational context, emphasizing security in Christ, the difference between conviction and condemnation, and the importance of grounding faith in God's grace rather than self-imposed perfection.
