  • Best Jewish podcast on iTunes

I listen to a significant number of podcasts, especially on Judaism, and this is hands down the most educative and entertaining of all I’ve come across. A plus is that the rabbi presents unbiased approach to Halacha, which is difficult to find nowadays.

Salt in Judaism
Q: What was the word in the Torah? Going back to the source of the salt, there's something, I can't remember what you said. Brit-melech.
Brit means covenant, and Melech is salt in this context; together they describe a 'covenant of salt' connected to various covenants and sacred duties, though the two terms are etymologically distinct and spelled differently.
Finding the 10 Lost Tribes
Q: How did the mass migrations and discoveries relate to the Lost Tribes narratives?
Explorers and missionaries across Europe and the Americas repeatedly linked discoveries and encounters to the idea that Lost Tribes existed somewhere, fueling a mix of curiosity, religious zeal, and political maneuvering.
Finding the 10 Lost Tribes
Q: Did anybody go back to check if there were more from Eldad Haddani's report?
Travel was extremely difficult in the period, and there was no follow-up to verify Eldad's origins; historical records remain limited and uncertain.
Greeting the Shabbat
Q: Is Shabbat Lashon Zachar or Lashon Nekei Vah? Is it masculine or feminine?
There's a big debate over that, but it's not discussed in detail here.
Greeting the Shabbat
Q: Is it the same term as Israel's kind of...?
Yes, the Knesset refers to the gathering or unity of the souls of Israel, similar to Israel's parliament.
