Philip's map-reading skills desert him before an awkward intro at Eagle. We also discuss two incredible Okinawa joints as the project finally expands to the fifth of Japan's major islands.
Mostly talk about bananas, with a jazz kissa soundtrack.
In Episode 96, after a subterranean trip to Japan's bubble-economy yeatrs, we survive our very own Squid Game on the way to see an old friend – and all the mixed emotions that stirs up.
Good stories told badly as we take bickering to the level of an Olympic sport, and get deep into the true nature of crockery with the truly ying and yang of Kyoto jazz joints.

Love what these guys are doing. But such a lost opportunity to include details on any of the sound systems! They even seem to studiously avoid photographing them! How do they manage that. Maybe they not into Hifi but at least get the owner to tell you about it and list a few components. Such effort from these kissa owners goes into the systems, bit if a shame.
Friends and some sparring partners put their eyes, ears and camera lense to weirdness of Japan. Whilst it is about Jazz and Jazz Kissa it’s in the same way that PBS CarTalk was both about and also not about advice on cars. It’s the journey and their observations that lead to insightful and funny recollections. These guys really know Japan. Great fun, also buy the book.
A must-hear for every Jazz Fan

This podcast was a real treat, especially during Melbourne’s eternal lockdown, the information is well informed and though I would like a bit more Audiophile insights i... more
