  • Great hosts, sometimes great guests

The hosts are insightful and good-natured; they take the films/themes seriously but maintain a playful energy. I wish there were more episodes with no guests. The guests have ranged from uniquely insightful (Skip the legend) to frankly unlistenable. I do appreciate the “study group” aspect of the show, but some people are not quite ready for radio.

  • It Really Ties the Room Together

Finally read the book many years after hearing about the Coen’s planned film adaptation. Turns out, I loved the book. It’s an existential classic. Then I went looking for a To the White Sea podcast and found this! A dream come true for fans of the Coen brothers: comprehensive in scope and full of insight into the brothers’ filmmaking process and the meaning of the films. Excellent work, guys! Laid back but erudite. Thought-provoking but fun. The perfect tribute! The Dude would surely approve.
