  • Best Pens podcast?

I’ve listened to all the big Penguins podcasts and this is my favorite. Nick and Nick always deliver good content, they don’t waste your time, and they’re not full of themselves. I’m impressed at their knowledge of the Penguins and the rest of the league and I never regret pressing play.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Penguins Enter Massive Week of Playoff Implications
Q: If you were the GM of the Penguins, who would you re-sign and for what terms?
The host argues Evgeni Malkin is a must-sign, proposing a one-year deal around $5 million, with potential future options depending on performance, to maintain leadership and chemistry while staying flexible for future roster moves.
Sidney Crosby Returns, Blake Lizotte Exits, and the Playoff Race Gets Even Tighter | TOTIB Mailbag
Q: Who should start in goal if the playoffs started tomorrow, and why?
There is no clear number one; both Artur Shilov and Stuart Skinner have strong cases, and the decision should be based on who gives the Penguins the best chance to win on a given night, rather than a fixed starter.
Sidney Crosby Returns, Blake Lizotte Exits, and the Playoff Race Gets Even Tighter | TOTIB Mailbag
Q: If the lineup holds without injuries, which young guns could play in Game 1 of the playoffs?
The discussion points to Elmer Soderblom as a potential spot, with the backup plan involving Rutgers McGroarty stepping in for the fourth line, especially if Crosby and Malkin are healthy, and as depth players progress in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Defensive Deadline Targets, All-Time Teams, Evgeni Malkin & More | TOTIB Mailbag
Q: Do you think Kyle Dubas will bring in a piece to excel a playoff push?
I don't think you're going to see any swing that big as the Kessel deal, but I think Dubas will be active and could add to this team.
Defensive Deadline Targets, All-Time Teams, Evgeni Malkin & More | TOTIB Mailbag
Q: What would you sign Evgeni Malkin for on a one-year deal?
If you can get Evgeni Malkin at $6 million for next year, especially considering the salary cap is supposed to jump up considerably again, I would be perfectly happy with it.
