  • Great Listen

I really love this podcast. Hearing from, and about, a lot of the bands that I listened to and saw during my teenage years has been great. Keep up what you’re doing as long as you can.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 280: The Bombpops w/ Jen Razavi
Q: What was it like getting on Fat Records and how did the relationship evolve?
She recalls Fat Records as the ultimate dream and notes that Fat approved their music after working with producers; the collaboration with Fat Mike and later producers like Tony Sly and Chris Fogel helped shape their sound and career trajectory, with Fat Records eventually evolving and partnering with Hopeless; the band valued the in-house support and brand legitimacy Fat provided.
Ep. 280: The Bombpops w/ Jen Razavi
Q: How did you get involved in the scene personally?
Jen describes growing up going to shows, facing barriers as a young woman in the scene, discovering bands via SanDiegoPunk forums, and ultimately meeting Poli to form The Bombpops, which led to early performances and rapid local recognition.
Ep. 266: From Indian Lakes w/ Joey Vannucchi
Q: But did that ever work against you? Like for live shows or was there ever a conversation?
Yes, there were moments when the artist's stance and unwillingness to compromise pissed off people in the studio or on tours, and he recalls pushing back against comparisons and pressure, which sometimes led to tense situations but ultimately helped establish his boundary-driven approach.
Ep. 277: Tsunami Bomb w/ Dominic Davi
Q: Do you guys play anything from The Definitive Act?
Yeah, yes, we do. We do play stuff from The Definitive Act.
Ep. 277: Tsunami Bomb w/ Dominic Davi
Q: Were you guys playing enough? Because it's pretty wild where you're starting up, you're talking about the band starting, and then all some people are like, you should be on, you know, Chris from Atari is like, you should be on FAD?
We got to a point where we had built up a thing. I think even we got on Warped Tour the first time and that guy, they were, Kevin Lyman was incredibly supportive.
