  • TTC ceo episode

This episode was useless. A puff piece. The reporter asked no hard questions. Didn’t challenge the CEO, just allowed him to write his own narrative of the TTC. 64% of riders are satisfied is a laughable statistic. On yelp TTC gets 1.6 starts and the reviews of the TTC is horrible because the TTC is horrible. The only aspect you can rely on with the TTC is that it will make you late.

  • Outstanding and essential local reporting

I just listened to the episode about increased police presence in our city. The host (forgive me, I can’t remember his name) did an incredible job interviewing both guests, and kept asking the follow up questions to dig in deeper. Count me as a new follower of this podcast series - essential listening if you’re a Toronto resident, connecting us to what’s happening in our own backyard. Bravo.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Can Toronto's Police Chief win back public trust?
Q: What was your reaction when you heard about the officers being charged in this case?
The chief stresses that such allegations are troubling for the city and emphasizes the need to support investigations while ensuring that processes hold members accountable and uphold high standards.
The TTC is piloting steel barriers on platforms. Will they keep riders safe?
Q: What would you say to people to try to advocate for this safety move to be taken?
I would point to the combination of reduced risk of falls or trespass, improved rider comfort on crowded platforms, and the potential for long-term cost savings from fewer service disruptions and track-level incidents, especially at the busiest stations.
Will Toronto be able to afford this World Cup by reselling tickets?
Q: What was your reaction to the decision by the city of Toronto to resell some of the FIFA tickets?
Experts note that while reselling tickets can help offset costs and support sponsorship opportunities, there are serious concerns about accessibility, equity, and whether the revenue will actually cover the deficit once the event hype fades.
Why Kenneth Law's guilty plea 'feels like a time-out'
Q: What goes through your head when you put all these facts together?
It's overwhelming to connect the toxicology, the orders, and the personal stories, realizing a family member could have been one of the victims, which intensifies the demand for broader accountability across borders.
Why Kenneth Law's guilty plea 'feels like a time-out'
Q: I know that this happened three years ago, your brother's death, but given Friday's guilty plea, I can't even imagine. How are you feeling?
I'm feeling stunned and angry because it seems like a slap on the wrist when you consider the hundreds of deaths linked to this individual; the plea feels inadequate in the face of such tragedy.
