4.8 out of 5 stars from 28 ratings
  • TTC ceo episode

This episode was useless. A puff piece. The reporter asked no hard questions. Didn’t challenge the CEO, just allowed him to write his own narrative of the TTC. 64% of riders are satisfied is a laughable statistic. On yelp TTC gets 1.6 starts and the reviews of the TTC is horrible because the TTC is horrible. The only aspect you can rely on with the TTC is that it will make you late.

  • Outstanding and essential local reporting

I just listened to the episode about increased police presence in our city. The host (forgive me, I can’t remember his name) did an incredible job interviewing both guests, and kept asking the follow up questions to dig in deeper. Count me as a new follower of this podcast series - essential listening if you’re a Toronto resident, connecting us to what’s happening in our own backyard. Bravo.

The $500 million bet on Toronto's condo market
Q: Is it a good economic decision to build new rental stock today, given construction costs and demand?
The guest acknowledges high construction costs and moderation in demand but argues that rental stock can be economically viable, especially with continued strong demand and the ability to generate cash flow through rents while waiting for market recovery.
The $500 million bet on Toronto's condo market
Q: What does this buying spree mean for the broader market and for actual sale availability in Toronto?
The guest explains that buying empty inventory and converting it to rental stock can help reduce oversupply and stabilize prices, with a longer-term plan to resell units, potentially not at peak pricing, to support market stabilization.
The $500 million bet on Toronto's condo market
Q: How many condo units did you just pick up with this $30 million investment, and what can you tell us about the building near the Ryerson University campus?
The guest cannot disclose exact metrics due to confidentiality, but confirms acquisition in one downtown building near the Ryerson campus and discusses the strategic move to convert the units to rental stock to generate cash flow.
The Toronto MPs who won Mark Carney his majority
Q: What was the moment like when you learned you won the by-election?
Martin and Begum describe a mix of surprise and gratitude, highlighting volunteer effort and the communities that supported them, while acknowledging the weight of moving to federal politics.
