  • I love Jason, Josh, Beards

I started listening to the Zone because I needed a Kansas City radio show to listen to, and I was familiar with Josh from the Postgame shows on 810. I really enjoy Jason as a host, and I think they do a great job talking about the sporting events that people want to hear about!

  • Why does Jason shout so much?

Because he thinks it makes what he’s saying is funny.

    Epic fail.

  • Needs more variety of guests

Show kinda feels stale without more guests. Love when Field Yates comes on, and miss Mitch Holthus. More insiders would make this show better, as it is I skip it more often than not.

  • Not worth your time

This show is 100% dependent on great national guests. Otherwise it’s a 10-2pm black hole featuring the classic sports talk pitfalls of tired forced humor. The host could be tolerable but doesnt add anything really substantive to offset the personality. Not clear why he was 810’s choice for mid day since the other two shows are fantastic. I’m still scratching my head on this hire.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Matt Derrick talking MU, Chiefs, & more! - Hour 2
Q: What do you think about the Chiefs' approach to Travis Kelsey's contract and the potential dead cap hits in future years?
The Chiefs have structured the deal with void years and future dead cap hits, which suggests this could be built around a limited window where they want to maximize flexibility now while planning around a possible turnover for the next couple of seasons, potentially aligning with a last rodeo scenario if he retires.
Daniel Harms talking Chiefs Football! - Hour 3
Q: And what did you see in the tape about Eloy Gilman and how Steve Spagnolo might deploy him on the defense?
Gilman brings the ability to line up in multiple spots in the back end, communicate effectively, and unlock the rest of the secondary. He's described as a 'skeleton key' who can handle nickel, box safety, and free safety roles, which could relieve pressure on other players and improve the defensive communication.
Matt Tait on Bill Self & Kansas Basketball! - Hour 2
Q: Is there a middle ground where Bill Self can stay involved but dial back the stress and hours while still coaching at a high level?
Yes, the guest suggests a middle-ground scenario where Self could remain as head coach in a reduced, healthier role—potentially with a GM-like support structure or other staffing adjustments to ease the workload and extend his tenure.
Iowa vs Nebraska Sweet 16 & more! - Hour 3
Q: What makes the UNC coaching opening different from other major jobs right now?
The group discusses the magnitude of UNC's brand, the stability of the athletic department, and the outsized buyout costs, suggesting that coaches weigh legacy and fit as much as money, and that the market may drive slower, strategic decisions.
Myron Medcalf on the NCAA Tournament! - Hour 3
Q: What does Missouri's performance say about coaching and player development in the NIL era?
Missouri illustrates that even with strong recruiting, consistency and the ability to translate talent into sustained performance down the stretch are critical, highlighting the ongoing challenges for coaches to build and maintain a cohesive roster.
