This podcast is life changing. It’s like Amanda (the host) is always speaking to my soul as an educator and a parent. Her latest series on AI is a must listen for anyone working in education. It’s you to change everything! 10 stars out of 5!!!
With 50 different states it’s impossible to know how education works in each one and I understand the hosts using only their own experience but I would like to see other states discussed. In the south and my state, TX, we don’t have a step and column. We have one column. We start at 58,000 and end at 30 years at 72,000 with a high cost of living, not CA or NYC but still high. We DON’T have unions and can’t bargain and have state insurance that’s only good in the state of Texas. I would like to s... more
This podcast offers great insights into a wide range of issues in the classroom. I love that Amanda has taken us with her on her journey from the workshop model to empowering the learner through inclusion
Amanda knows her stuff, but relates it to her listeners in a way that makes it attainable. I am an elementary literacy coach, and I have new and better ways of supporting classroom teachers because of Amanda’s informative podcast. I also have a list of books I am eager to read, especially after listening to the paradigm shift episode.
Thank you Amanda, for the motivation to support teachers, and young readers and writers, in thoughtful, purposeful ways.
Amanda’s podcast is not only focused on helping teachers, but it’s inspiring in a way that many other podcasts for education are not. I look forward to Amanda’s new, creative ideas with each episode. A must listen for any teacher- workshop or not!!
I coach teachers at the elementary level, and find these podcasts to be super helpful information to share with teachers. Always very informative, and very real.
Amanda’s podcast is fantastic and relevant to teachers worldwide. While I am in Australia and teaching a different curriculum, I still find so much of value in these podcasts and on Amanda’s website. I like that she is real and realistic about what happens in her classroom and how she implements workshops. I’m transitioning back into readers and writer’s workshops after many years away from them and I can’t thank Amanda enough for the tips and inspiration I am getting from her podcast.
Amanda has done a great job of distilling Teachers College ideas and explaining how she uses the philosophy of workshop. I especially loved her truth about writing minilessons. This is a relaxed podcast with sprinkled bits of knowledge you’ll enjoy if you teach language arts. It’s like a chat with a great coworker.
I recently found The Workshop Teacher Podcast and quickly binged all the available episodes. Amanda is so candid and enthusiastic about implementing the workshop model in the ELA classroom. Even if you don’t adopt the workshop approach full-scale, Amanda still offers realistic strategies that ALL English teachers can use.
Amanda, thank you for sharing your experience. I just recently found your podcast. I'm an 8th grade ELA WORKSHOP teacher in South Bay! I really appreciate your vulnerability, as I validates the trials and triumphs I have had in implementing reading and writing workshopmover the past 4 years. Moreover, your advice is so spot on! Thank you, and keep sharing when you can.
I’m excited to return to the workshop model in some of my classes this year, and Amanda is helping me match my excitement with confidence. This is an excellent podcast for anyone interested in the workshop model, regardless of level of experience.
I teach HS English in the resource room, using a workshop model. This podcast always has fresh new ideas and encouragement to keep me going.
When I found out that I HAD to teach a very prescriptive workshop curriculum for both reading and writing for this upcoming year, I started to cry after colleagues suggested that I just “read lessons out of the book”. I am so glad that I discovered this podcast because it has inspired me to teach out of my comfort zone, and I feel like I have gotten some of my autonomy in teaching back that I thought I had lost. Thanks much!
Amanda, thank you so much for all of your resources! I am going to be a new teacher to ELA this year and I am very excited to start because of your podcasts and classes.
Thank you to Amanda for this amazing podcast and her awesome website & membership! Her straightforward style and useful tips and information completely resonate with me and my teaching. I am so grateful to have found Amanda’s resources! AWESOME!!
