  • Epic Podcast!

Wolf Connection is amazing. They are best-in-class animal care givers and leaders in the animal sanctuary and education space. I really love the episode about Dire Wolves. It lwas such a great conversation about the Dire Wolves, wolf care, and what it takes to care for animals at this level. Great listen.

  • Really cool but could use more organization

Love the subject. Hosts and guest seem like really great folks. From the episodes I’ve listened to the questions to the guests being interviewed feel random/disorganized. I also would like a basic, more zoomed out view and introduction to each subject at hand before delving into what feels like random interest points of the interviewer. Like when listening to an episode about wolves in Chernobyl I’d like to have some basic info about the size of the exclusion zone and how many wolves make their ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode #249 Naïma Namaste - Art, Women, and Wolves
Q: What are the core themes in her work and how does she view the role of nature?
Her work centers on the feminine, the wild, and nature, with wolves symbolizing freedom and resilience; she believes nature is the great masterpiece she translates into art.
Episode #249 Naïma Namaste - Art, Women, and Wolves
Q: What inspired Naïma to pursue painting after her early days in graphic design?
A life-changing visit to Claude Monet's home awakened her to art, and a later encounter with wolves during travels rekindled her passion, leading her to pursue painting full time.
Episode #247 Eric Washburn - The Future of Winter, Water, and Wildlife in Colorado
Q: What are the main barriers to adopting more science-based wildlife management in Colorado, and how can those be overcome?
Cultural beliefs within hunting communities, media sensationalism around wolf incidents, and a disconnect between scientific findings and public understanding are major barriers. Progress requires better public communication, coexistence programs, legislative support for wildlife science, and visible wins in predator–prey balance demonstrated through real-world results.
Episode #247 Eric Washburn - The Future of Winter, Water, and Wildlife in Colorado
Q: What shaped your decision to start hunting in your thirties, and how did your background influence your ethics as a hunter?
My transition came from being surrounded by wildlife-focused mentors in government and conservation circles; I learned about the North American Model for Wildlife Conservation, the Fair Chase Ethic, and the idea that hunting should be tied to ecosystem health, not just extraction. This background gave me a framework to hunt responsibly while prioritizing the health of the broader ecosystem.
Episode #244 Eleri Lopp - Wolves In Estonia
Q: What are the main ecological changes you've observed with increased road building and logging?
More roads and clear-cuts have made wolves more visible and hunting easier for humans, while habitat loss reduces old-growth forests; prey species like roe deer have declined due to hunting pressures, shifting wolves' diet.
