  • Epic Podcast!

Wolf Connection is amazing. They are best-in-class animal care givers and leaders in the animal sanctuary and education space. I really love the episode about Dire Wolves. It lwas such a great conversation about the Dire Wolves, wolf care, and what it takes to care for animals at this level. Great listen.

  • Really cool but could use more organization

Love the subject. Hosts and guest seem like really great folks. From the episodes I’ve listened to the questions to the guests being interviewed feel random/disorganized. I also would like a basic, more zoomed out view and introduction to each subject at hand before delving into what feels like random interest points of the interviewer. Like when listening to an episode about wolves in Chernobyl I’d like to have some basic info about the size of the exclusion zone and how many wolves make their ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode #244 Eleri Lopp - Wolves In Estonia
Q: What are the main ecological changes you've observed with increased road building and logging?
More roads and clear-cuts have made wolves more visible and hunting easier for humans, while habitat loss reduces old-growth forests; prey species like roe deer have declined due to hunting pressures, shifting wolves' diet.
Episode #244 Eleri Lopp - Wolves In Estonia
Q: How does Estonia's EU membership influence wolf protection and hunting regulations?
Estonia follows EU Habitat Directive; wolves are in Annex 5 with protection, and any delisting or hunting requires solid scientific evidence and favorable conservation status, but enforcement and data quality are uneven, and some decisions have been criticized as not fully science-based.
Episode #244 Eleri Lopp - Wolves In Estonia
Q: What is your wolf tracking process and what tools do you rely on the most?
I rely on winter conditions, trail cameras, listening for howls, and driving forest roads to observe tracks; I avoid disturbing resting wolves by following tracks backwards from where two wolves were seen, and I integrate hunter observations to build a broader picture, though data transparency remains a challenge.
Episode #243 Eleanor Keisman - New Animal
Q: What message do you want readers to take away?
Ultimately, Eleanor hopes the book conveys a message of hope despite heavy themes, emphasizing the importance of connection with nature and each other.
Episode #243 Eleanor Keisman - New Animal
Q: What does 'climate fiction' mean?
Eleanor described climate fiction as a subset of science fiction that specifically addresses environmental catastrophes and human relationships with nature.
