A simple structure with a really nice flow - touches on both niche and mainstream punk so there's something for everyone and the chemistry between the presenters is great. Also downloaded a couple of the band recommendations after listening so it's great if you're looking for new music suggestions. All in all, a total winner - looking forward to the next one!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jimmy Eat World (return)
Q: What was it like performing Bleed American in full after 25 years?
The band noted that playing the album in order provides a special arc and that the live arrangement, with added musicians and visual effects, helped re-ignite the energy of the record for modern audiences.
Brian Fallon
Q: What's your writing process like when you're on tour compared to studio time?
He explains he writes constantly, often on tour, and describes a workflow where ideas come from on-the-road experiences and collaborations with other writers, with a preference for live, collaborative sessions.
Brian Fallon
Q: Not Bad For New Jersey is coming up; how do you feel about the release and the surrounding tour?
Fallon expresses enthusiasm for the new record, noting it fits into a broader arc of his solo and Gaslight Anthem work, and mentions an upcoming two-and-a-half-month tour with diverse stops.
Slam Dunk Festival 2026
Q: If there was a song by an artist on this bill that you could change and make a Bayside song, what would you pick?
Nick from Bayside suggested a Bayside-ized version of a Menzingers song would suit their style, while the others offered Taking Back Sunday and Santoria as plausible options, reflecting their bands' influences and the collaborative spirit of the festival lineup.
Kenny Vasoli (The Starting Line)
Q: What were the key production decisions on Based on a True Story and Direction?
There was tension around production, with Tim O'Hare initially involved, later switching to Chris Lord-Alge for mixing, and then Howard Benson for some finishes; the band wrestled with edits and the balance between experimental sounds and their core energy, ultimately choosing producers who could preserve their spirit while elevating the recordings.
