  • Love it!

Ryan Roland-Smith is great! As a podcast, I do prefer the old format, but it’s super cool that the show is on TV and YouTube now. The interviews are great (my favorite was the Felix interview) and I also like Ryan’s analysis and insider’s perspective on pitching in MLB and other topics. Thanks, Ryan! Go M’s!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mariners legend Mike Cameron joins the show
Q: What happens with a sophomore slump, if you can answer that for Sean Collins over at X?
Cameron explains that he tightened focus, faced more left-handed pitchers, adjusted his approach, and learned from the struggles rather than letting them define him, which helped him rebound and grow as a player.
Colt Emerson Has Arrived
Q: What stood out about his first home run in terms of approach to the pitch?
Emerson and his counterparts describe recognizing the changeup and staying back, with Emerson adjusting his swing to guide the barrel through the zone for the homer.
Colt Emerson Has Arrived
Q: How do you feel about Colt Emerson's debut, are you in or out on it?
The host notes Emerson showed solid at-bats against Lucas Giolito and delivered a memorable first hit the next day, with strong family support in attendance.
Is the Mariners bullpen deep enough?
Q: With all these new pitch names popping up, do pitches really need a big arsenal or just a handful of elite pitches that they command?
The guest explains that while multiple pitches can be useful, effective pitchers often succeed by mastering a core set of pitches and using them intelligently, avoiding overcomplication and focusing on conviction, sequencing, and making each pitch count in the moment.
What is going on with the Mariners?
Q: What makes a pitcher have a bad outing compared to a good outing?
Outings hinge on timing, mechanics, and how quickly a pitcher can execute their plan; even good stuff can look off if a pitcher misses by a few pitches or loses rhythm, while consistent execution separates the best from the rest.
