Douglas Bruce defends TABOR from attacks, and tries to defend himself from what he sees as retribution.
Douglas Bruce was riding high after TABOR’s big win in 1992. But the afterglow didn’t last long.
Douglas Bruce was an ex-lawyer with a love for the U.S. Constitution when he moved to Colorado in 1986. He earned a reputation as a rabble rouser and was seen as little more than that. Then he won, and changed everything.
The story of Colorado's most famous freedom fighter, Douglas Bruce, like you’ve never heard it before.

Learned a lot about a complicated issue through the people involved in supporting it and fighting it. It also had a more balanced approach than I expected just because to me it’s pretty clear TABOR has many sneaky ways to essentially dismantle “government expenditures” like roads and schools here in Colorado, making it hard in my mind to have a balanced view of the amendment.
I have been trying to listen to this, but every sight has a brief intro, episode two and episode three. Very frustrating!
I finally feel like I get TABOR (Tax Payers Bill of Rights). Learning the history of it's passing and effects was much more fascinating than one would expect thanks to these great CPR reporters.
It was hard for me to follow this story in the paper. This brings it all together. Educational and entertaining.
This podcast did a fantastic job of letting people on everyside of this story tell their side of it. Then adding a lot of context around the time in an extremely informative way. I also appreciate the unbiased look back at the impact of TABOR 25 years since passage. This podcast made me a much more informed citizen and I really appreciate. Also, I heard about the Civics 101 podcast on this podcast and I really enjoy that one as well now!
