What a unique idea for a Taylor Swift fan podcast. I love that Uncle Jerry, who is clearly a longstanding literary scholar, knows nothing about Taylor and hasn’t even listened to her songs, is able to pick up on the tiniest and most accurate details about her just by reading her lyrics as poems. It just validates all of us who proudly claim that Taylor Swift is the one true poet of our generation. Angela, you are a tried and true Swiftie, who beautifully pulls it all together when Jerry unknowi... more
I saw a clip of the Peter episode on TikTok and went running, knocking over tables and chairs, to download this podcast. I swiftly became a genuine fan. Dr. Jerry is the official uncle of all us Swifties now and Angela is the queen for shooting her shot with this idea. We are all turning into supremely scholarly swifties, now that we have the pleasure of listening to The Swiftie and The Scholar.
Love this show and the dialogue between Angela and her scholarly uncle. Great premise to read each Taylor Swift song as a poem! I’m a pretty recent Swiftie and one of the main draws for me is her lyrics. I never expected Dr Jerry to find as many connections in her words as he does for almost each song. Angelas Swiftie context is also great for me as a newer fan myself. Thanks for creating this podcast! I am now looking forward to it each week.
This podcast combines two of my favorite loves: literary analysis and Taylor Swift! The two of the hosts do really interesting deep dives into Taylor’s lyrics. It’s such a great combination to hear Uncle Jerry’s literary scholastic knowledge combined with her Swiftie history. You can tell they are both having a great time, therefore so am I!
I first saw you in my FYP for the Peter episode and loved listening to you both. Thank you! I'm a fan!!
