  • Great listen!

I love how CARMINE breaks down the science in an action based plan and gives me direction on what to use. The skin care world is very confusing and I really enjoy this podcast and I’m learning so much.

The Skincarma Pod | Ep. 81: Beauty Doesn't Need More Products. It Needs Better Ones — with Shannaz Schopfer
Q: What makes a founder likely to succeed in this space?
Successful founders typically demonstrate realistic planning, have adequate funding to cover development, testing, and marketing, and understand that product development is a multi-step process that involves careful coordination with manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. They also prioritize knowing their audience and pricing strategy from the start.
The Skincarma Pod | Ep. 81: Beauty Doesn't Need More Products. It Needs Better Ones — with Shannaz Schopfer
Q: When a founder comes to you, what would you say are the biggest misconceptions they typically have?
Many founders think success happens overnight and that a great concept directly translates into a finished product. In reality, translating an idea into a market-ready item requires time, careful planning of ingredients, texture, scent, viscosity, packaging, and distribution—plus regulatory readiness and a strategy for both local and global markets.
The Skincarma Pod | Ep. 79: When the Surgeon Became the Patient: Healing from the Inside Out with Dr. Kami Parsa
Q: What is the key turning point that changed your approach to healing and skincare?
A finger mallet injury during play that forced a six-week healing process led me to research nutrition and recovery protocols; applying ICU-style nutrition to surgical care and then publishing a book on Heal and a recovery-focused supplement line, Mendora, reframed how I view healing and skin health.
The Skincarma Pod | Ep. 79: When the Surgeon Became the Patient: Healing from the Inside Out with Dr. Kami Parsa
Q: What did you originally think you were going to do, and how did you ultimately find your way into oculoplastic surgery?
I planned to be a pilot and studied aeronautical engineering, but a biology class and mentorship shifted my path toward medicine. After exploring ophthalmology through happy mentors and micro-surgery, I ended up specializing in oculofacial plastic surgery, and later integrated nutrition and healing into surgical recovery.
The Skincarma Pod | Ep. 28: Questions I’ve Always Wanted to Ask a Derm with Board Certified Dermatologist Dr. Jen Haley
Q: What's the one step in your own skincare routine that you absolutely never skip even on your busiest day?
Carmine emphasizes daily sunscreen usage, ideally a chemical-free option with zinc oxide, and a tinted sunscreen to address pigmentation and light exposure even indoors.
