We are often told the USSR was an oppressive, authoritarian society, lacking freedom and democracy. There were endless purges that claimed the lives of millions of “dissidents,” purges that were designed for one thing and one thing only: to keep power in the hands of those who wielded it.

I love this show. It’s so well researched and explained. The dedication Daniel has for digging deep into the history, explaining it and referring and translating Russian text directly from the sources makes for a unique view into that time. The intro episode starts brilliantly by exposing the history from the American perspective that, while me being Latin American, didn’t buy wholesale, I never had a clear counter-narrative that could really balance it out
I disagree with the conflation of spontaneous revolution with anarchism however the host made it clear that was their personal reading of the source material. Great work, thank you for putting it out with no ads! Hoping enough people donate to the Patreon for this to become a regular income source <3
A welcome and informative recounting of the Bolshevic Revolution sans the anti-Communist bias of the bourgeoisie historians. Space-based tovarish.
Interesting pov and seems thorough.
