Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Trust The Process #2 - Snake: This Prospect Reminds Me Of Lane Hutson
Q: What are the biggest differences between the CHL and NCAA for players transferring between the two leagues?
Players need to adapt to a different style of hockey, the average age of players is older in NCAA, and they play fewer games, which can impact their statistics and competition level.
Trust The Process #11 - Jacob Fowler May Be Even Better Than We Thought...
Q: With regard to the development paths for European defensemen, what do you recommend?
Ideally, it's best for a player drafted in the first or second round to play their first year in Europe and their next year in the AHL.
Trust The Process #5 - Habs Make Cuts, Don't Worry If These Players Don't Make It...
Q: Which teams should go on a full rebuild in the next three years?
Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins are likely candidates for rebuilding. The teams need to consider their current standings and player values to provide a sustainable future.
Trust The Process #4 - Snake: Stop Using Preseason To Evaluate Players!
Q: But if really there's not much value in evaluating pre-season performances, where do coaches and general managers evaluate their players in pre-season?
In training camp, because they do need to evaluate them, coaches and management have tons of data and evaluations on players from before training camp started.
Trust The Process #4 - Snake: Stop Using Preseason To Evaluate Players!
Q: But I'm curious if you could expand a little bit on why you could see the AHL being better for development for certain of these players compared to junior?
The AHL is an excellent league to make players understand North American professional hockey because it's a very similar league to the NHL, they play almost as many games and there's real body contact contrary to the European leagues.
