  • Don’t get on the bus!

Nate speaks so quickly. He has an important message for a certain type of audience but many would not grasp all he has to say. So rich were his statements that I had to rewind the recording to give my slow mind a chance to absorb the message.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Nate Soares on P(Doom), Alien Superintelligence, Human Enhancement, and the Future of AI
Q: What governance or policy steps do you advocate to slow or control the race to superintelligence?
The proposal argues for stopping the race, global coordination, and potentially pausing frontier model development; it also recommends drafting and sharing legal text to regulate how and when advanced AI research can proceed, combined with international monitoring and enforcements.
Max Tegmark’s P(Doom) Is Over 90%
Q: Do you think pre-deployment or pre-training restrictions are essential, and how would they be implemented?
Pre-deployment testing is crucial, but the guest argues for broader controls, including pre-training permissions, to prevent dangerous capabilities from being trained and released; the approach mirrors biosafety lab protocols and would require prior approval of risky experiments.
Max Tegmark’s P(Doom) Is Over 90%
Q: How would you structure governance to prevent disaster while still allowing beneficial AI development?
Propose binding safety standards, an FDA-like AI regulatory body, and requirements for quantified safety guarantees before deployment; move voluntary commitments into formal law and tailor products to reduce harm while enabling safe, targeted innovation.
