  • Music over talk

Have recently discovered this very interesting podcast. Am waaay over here in Oz. The only thing that I have difficulty with is that you put music behind a large percentage of the talk. I have a brain condition which makes the task of separating these. Your music between segments is good but sadly I mightn’t be able to continue. I asked my neurosurgeon said my feelings were quite valid Thanks

  • Very interesting

Usefull and interesting. But please stop the silly music behind the voices like today with Nick. It makes it difficult to follow. Because of that only 4 stars.

  • Wonderful British Gardening Podcast

I so appreciate the RHS for the extensive information provided about plants that work all over. As a home gardener in Iowa, I am so inspired by the great British gardeners and have learned so much. This is a favorite.

  • Really

I thought I could come here and listen to gardening advice, which occasionally there is and then it’s enjoyable, but way way too much rhetoric “climate change” alarmism, a shame you choose to destroy an otherwise great idea.

A celebration of British blooms
Q: What are some practical tips for growing sweet peas successfully at home?
Roger outlines sowing times by region, choosing varieties with strong fragrance, using supports like wigwams or canes, and managing aphids with garden predators rather than pesticides.
A celebration of British blooms
Q: What makes British-grown flowers important for the economy and biodiversity?
Georgie explains that locally grown cut flowers boost the economy by keeping money in the community and contribute to biodiversity and pollinator habitats, especially when grown with sustainable practices.
Insect week: Beetling about, solitary bees, and summer strawbs
Q: What are the main differences between solitary bees and honeybees in terms of nesting and social structure?
Solitary bees do not live in colonies; each female tends her own nest and provisioning, with no worker caste, unlike honeybees which have a queen, workers, and a highly organized social structure.
Plants for sunny spots: the familiar and the unexpected
Q: What did you make of Phil's recommendations?
James notes that Phil's bearded iris recommendations emphasize pairing with bulbs and careful balance in the border, which can make iris displays more dynamic rather than monocultures, and he highlights that experimenting with Mediterranean companions could redefine how irises are used in drier summers.
