  • Music Lover’s Paradise

Paul, I never would have found this podcast if you weren’t on “Fly On the Wall.” So glad I heard you mention it because this podcast is a music lover’s paradise. Just listened to your interview with Peter Guralnick, and have only read his excellent “Finding Robert Johnson.” Now I have much more to read! Your interview style is so casual and informative. Keep up the great work. Oh, and I also plan to add your John Candy bio book to my list of Christmas purchases - for myself and a few friends.

  • Great podcast for keeping up with what's happening in music, not just bands and musicians, but also famous music fans. Nicely paced with usually more than one guest per episode.

The Beths' Elizabeth Stokes on Straight Line Was A Lie
Q: I wanted to go back to something you said, which was you found yourself going to patterns a lot and coming back to the same things. It kind of sounds like that's the essence of even the title song, Straight Line Was A Lie... what can you say about that?
Stokes explains that the song explores the illusion of linear progression versus the reality of life's cyclical nature, something she has personally grappled with.
The Beths' Elizabeth Stokes on Straight Line Was A Lie
Q: Did you find... I want to get right to something, which is like when I pictured talking to you, I think she doesn't probably want to talk to people. How do you feel about talking to people about your music?
Stokes feels that it's part of her job and although she struggled at first, she has improved with practice and reflection on her songs.
Adrian Sherwood on "The Collapse of Everything"
Q: What do you mean by saying the album is a soundtrack to the times we're living in?
It certainly feels like things are falling to bits...
