  • Music Lover’s Paradise

Paul, I never would have found this podcast if you weren’t on “Fly On the Wall.” So glad I heard you mention it because this podcast is a music lover’s paradise. Just listened to your interview with Peter Guralnick, and have only read his excellent “Finding Robert Johnson.” Now I have much more to read! Your interview style is so casual and informative. Keep up the great work. Oh, and I also plan to add your John Candy bio book to my list of Christmas purchases - for myself and a few friends.

  • Great podcast for keeping up with what's happening in music, not just bands and musicians, but also famous music fans. Nicely paced with usually more than one guest per episode.

Amy Grant
Q: What is the significance of the two words Lean in?
Lean in represents a shift from frustration to proactive rehabilitation, using neuroplasticity and creativity—especially songwriting—as tools to re-engage with life and music after the head injury.
Mekons (Sally Timms & Jon Langford)
Q: Was HORRORble created contemporaneously with the original Horror recording?
The duo explain that some dub mixes were done before, some after, and the process involved handing the material to Tony Maimone with minimal guidance to let him explore without constraints.
Where The Music Had To Go author Jim Windolf on the Parallel Worlds of The Beatles & Bob Dylan
Q: What are some of the most striking first-hand stories that illustrate their relationship?
He points to the Delmonico hotel meeting, the initial Dylan reception by the Beatles, and the later Bearsville sessions with George Harrison that catalyzed both Dylan's and Harrison's solo careers, among other anecdotes.
Where The Music Had To Go author Jim Windolf on the Parallel Worlds of The Beatles & Bob Dylan
Q: How did you end up writing this book and developing the Dylan-Beatles thesis?
Windolf describes his long-time fandom for both artists, his scholarly curiosity, and the scarcity of joined Dylan-Beatles scholarship that motivated him to pursue a unified narrative linking their developments and mutual influences.
Sean Ono Lennon Returns!
Q: What inspired the song The Golden Egg of Empathy and how did Willow come to be involved?
Les wrote the lyrics for the parrot-ox perspective after Sean brought in chords, and Willow contributed the vocal for the character, which aligned with the song's playful yet serious examination of empathy; Sean notes it felt destiny and avoided autobiographical implications.
