  • Stephen Paul makes this podcast

I wish I could give this podcast a better rating. Unfortunately I can’t recommend it due to the host Zach and his complete lack of self awareness. I’m not usually “this guy” but the podcast is much more enjoyable whenever Zach is not on. Unfortunately some of the other hosts (Steve) also believe in their humour way too much. The only reason I listen is for Stephen Paul’s insight.

  • Mixed Bag

It is tough to rate this show because the episode quality ranges incredibly depending on who the hosts are. There are the SGS episodes (approximately once a month) which are exceptional, give insight into the translating process and constitute a deep dive into the story. There are the serious guest star episodes (voice actors and the likes), where the hosts show their more mature side, which are also extremely solid (4-5/5). But there are also many episodes which are meandering (2+ hours), weigh... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 887, “Something's Fishy About That Burger...”
Q: Do you think we'll finally get them interacting in this flashback, in the final war or tragically never at all?
It's likely we'll see the schism between Garp's view and Dragon's emerging ideals in this flashback, as they set up their respective paths in the story.
Episode 875, “The Dadcast”
Q: What do you guys think about new characters joining the crew?
It's hard to imagine them officially ingratiating any new proper members into the crew without feeling like it has too many main characters.
Episode 856, “Just Two Pages” (SGS #22)
Q: So what do you think about that? Why is he here? Is he the burn scar man that is holding the last road Poneglyph?
It's possible that he is near the end of the Grand Line, and this could tie into his connection with the last road Poneglyph.
Episode 856, “Just Two Pages” (SGS #22)
Q: What's new with you, Greg? How you been?
Greg has been busy navigating the bureaucratic process of buying a car in Japan, which turned out to be quite a long task.
Episode 855, “Schmopo Gaban in Schmargaritaville” (with SungWon Cho)
Q: SungWon, what do you think about the chapter?
I hope Luffy finds the One Piece and becomes king of the pirates.
