I’m astonished that you’ve recommended Malaysia so much. I just spent 3 months here following your advice and it’s HORRIBLE.
This country treats women HORRIBLY and with NO respect. They practice strict Sharia Law in most places aka treating women like secondary citizens. They even practice FGM and say it’s part of their “culture.”
Shame on you Andrew for such a terrible recommendation. You’ve lost all credibility in my eyes.
Second generation expat here — I like his “go where you are treated best” approach to life. Why stay in a place that doesn’t suit you? And why leave if you’re happy?
The USA wasn’t kind to him and this bias shows in his shows. But overall, most of what he talks about is useful information.
The swooshes and pops are really distracting. They are annoying enough on video. On a podcast…they are unbearable. Great content like this does not need Tik Tok sound effects!
Normalize your volume !!!
Great podcast I never miss.
One issue: for several weeks now there has been a volume issue on the into and outro. So quiet I can’t hear it, so I just wait for the regular episode to start where the volume is perfect. May want to look at this and fix it.
That issue aside, still a fascinating podcast discussing all manner of expat and international travel and living issues. Read Andrew’s book … twice actually since I got the updated edition and read that through.
