A show about movies and how they connect. We love movies. We’ve been talking about them, one movie a week, since 2011. It’s a lot of movies, that’s true, but we’re passionate about origins and performance, directors and actors, themes and genres, and so much more. So join the community, and let’s hear about your favorite movies, too. When the movie ends, our conversation begins.

  • Best film podcast

I had lost interest in films a few years ago, and Pete and Andy single handedly (double handedly?) revived that love. Going through their library of shows, I have watched films I never would have checked out otherwise. Plus there's the added treat to hear their discourse on films I know backward and forward (even if we don't always agree). If you love film, check this one out!

  • Disappointed in you lads

Normally a great podcast that I really enjoy. But the lack of empathy when talking about the death of a real child is just simply bang out of order. You should be a shamed of yourselfs.

  • Wasted tome but good review

It seems every episode has about 20 minutes of wasted time at the beginning before you get to the actual review. More critical the wasted time is not about the movie. It’s mostly wasted talking about nothing at all. Once you get to the movie it does get better. And the review is worthwhile to hear. So I recommend to all listeners to just skip ahead and not waste your time on their useless conversation.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Last Man on Earth
Q: What were your thoughts about the adaptation of the book?
The movie includes some significant elements from the book but ultimately shortchanges the character development and thematic depth present in the original source material.
Manhunter
Q: What was it that drew you to picking this particular series?
I've always loved the character of Hannibal Lecter and wanted to explore the films he's in.
The Boston Strangler
Q: Can you talk about, we're kicking off this series, the return to the 1968 crime film series with this film? What was it about returning to the 1968 crime films that drew you in to pick the three films we're going to be discussing?
I liked the original 1968 crime films that we did. They're good movies. And I felt like this was a list of movies that I haven't seen and that I just wanted, I felt like we were in a good place to explore.
The Hunt for Red October
Q: What were the primary awards the film received?
It won three awards with eight nominations, notably including Best Sound Effects Editing and a nomination for Sean Connery at the BAFTAs.
The Hunt for Red October
Q: What did you think of Costner? Could you see him in the role?
Costner fits the analyst type role rather than an action star, making him a suitable pick for the character.
