Normally, you can’t just wish for a story to be good. But if that actually works, then watch out, because you’re almost certainly in a morality play about how something you get without any work isn’t actually worth having. That’s just what wishes are... more
We’ve all been there: The plot is going well, but your hero is solving problems too easily because of their cool magic powers. Couldn’t you fix it by making their society ban cool magic powers? Technically, yes, but there’s a lot that goes into such ... more
Speculative worlds have a lot going on, which is why we love them. Cool magic and meticulous technology, it’s what we live for. But oh, wow, is it hard to explain, especially at the beginning. That’s when you need to hook readers with something excit... more
Unfortunately, we now live in a time when our democracy and basic freedoms are under assault from all sides. No single person can stop this, but everyone can help, and storytellers don’t need to be on the sidelines. The most important thing to rememb... more

I am benefitting from the Mythcreant website most of all because it contains so much helpful craft content. I already know how to put together a novel, but Mythcreants’ posts still help, even though I don’t write fantasy or sci-fi. The content is sound, lucid, and reflects a deep understanding of narratology.

For those who aren’t tortured with acute hearing like me, this probably won’t matter to you. But for others like me, I pray the podcasters will take my review into account (rare, but it can happen), put it through some audio editing (like a de-esser, for exampl... more
Can you do a podcast on the spellslinger series by Sabastyen de castle
I started listening to them in 2020 and check up with new episodes every few weeks - currently working on a new novel and I really feel, that I know better how to check for plot holes, character karma and logical (thought through) character decisions. I can especially recommend everything about structure in storytelling - it helps a lot in the long run and it’s always good fun to listen to them :>.
Big, holistic gulp - come sit down and listen, because I promise you, no matter how disillusioned you are we can take it a step further.
Who doesn’t want more people in their lives to take them for a ride? To point at every pothole and then drive right over them yelling, “Told you!!!”
Come! Hop on this lame horse and make sure you equip your Mythcreant Saddle of Soulless Commentary, it pins your feet to the ears and your face just beneath the tail - giddy up!
Because if you don’t think the be... more
