Take a break, sit and relax, put your feet up. Maybe enjoy a refreshing hot beverage or a home-cooked meal. If you have time, you can read one of the panic pieces about how a new-ish genre is ruining literature. Obviously, this is a cozy fantasy epis... more
After 13 years, it’s hopefully clear that we recommend against having villains trip over their own feet. In most stories, if the villain is a pushover, there won’t be much tension or satisfaction. But why do villains become pushovers in the first pla... more
How does one make less mean more? Well, you could always hack a bunch of dictionary sites to change the definition of “less,” but those changes always get reverted eventually. A more robust approach is to make sure whatever you add to the story actua... more
Prequels: Why? We’re honestly curious. Despite just about everyone knowing that they’re a bad idea, they keep getting made. But since we can’t know the minds of media producers, our only recourse is to spend a whole episode talking about the constrai... more

I am benefitting from the Mythcreant website most of all because it contains so much helpful craft content. I already know how to put together a novel, but Mythcreants’ posts still help, even though I don’t write fantasy or sci-fi. The content is sound, lucid, and reflects a deep understanding of narratology.

But for others like me, I pray the podcasters will take my review into account (rare, but it can happen), put it through some audio editing (like a de-esser, for exampl... more
Can you do a podcast on the spellslinger series by Sabastyen de castle
I started listening to them in 2020 and check up with new episodes every few weeks - currently working on a new novel and I really feel, that I know better how to check for plot holes, character karma and logical (thought through) character decisions. I can especially recommend everything about structure in storytelling - it helps a lot in the long run and it’s always good fun to listen to them :>.
Big, holistic gulp - come sit down and listen, because I promise you, no matter how disillusioned you are we can take it a step further.
Who doesn’t want more people in their lives to take them for a ride? To point at every pothole and then drive right over them yelling, “Told you!!!”
Come! Hop on this lame horse and make sure you equip your Mythcreant Saddle of Soulless Commentary, it pins your feet to the ears and your face just beneath the tail - giddy up!
Because if you don’t think the be... more
