How do you grow a production team from 18 volunteers to 50 in just two years?
In this episode, we sit down with Cody, who actually did it.
If you've ever said:
• "We can't find volunteers."
• "The same people serve every week."
• "Nobody want... more
About six months ago, Spencer called Cody out of the blue from a gym treadmill — and that call turned into the biggest move in MxU's history. In this episode, Spencer and Cody sit down right after the keynote to walk through the full story of how MxU... more
Most churches don't document any of their weekend process — it lives in the heads of a few key volunteers, and that's the entire reason you can't take a vacation, can't trust a backup operator, and keep getting Galatians spelled wrong on the slides a... more
Spencer and Dillan spend the next thirty minutes unpacking the honest diagnosis, which is that the volunteer almost never is the problem. Dillan opens with a story he heard recently: a congregant who finally responded to the pastor's "get off the ben... more

Really great content here, guys. I’m a worship leader and our sound engineer actually told me about you, and I love it.
I have one little note that I hope you guys can help me out with. I listen to this while I’m driving in a noisy car, so with my volume at max, I can hear most things just right, but Spencer trails off and gets really quiet about 25% of the time. I don’t know what’s happening, maybe he’s looking away from his mic while he talks? Could someone turn up his gain and maybe add some ... more
While some may not agree, I like the content you have been producing lately. I am probably unique that I am a professional Sound engineer who backed off and became a physical therapist. And now service of volunteer at my local church and so I have been on both side sides of the table.
From a ministry perspective, we must ask ourselves. What are we doing? Are we developing our team? Are we investing in the spiritual maturation of the team? And are we feeding the sheep?
Or as Jesus would say fee... more
Did I miss the episode where they said they changing to a worship podcast instead of tech? All the old hosts are gone. I’m all for leadership building but this was originally for tech and production. This should have been a new MxU worship podcast instead of hijacking this one. If anyone else feels the same the Churchgear podcast has been good and similar to old MxU.
This podcast used to be about getting better in your craft in regard to mixing and other technical aspects that many average church techs benefited from greatly. I am sad to see the podcast be reduced to short episodes about leading a worship team. The audience it became known for helping/growing is no longer served.
I really have enjoyed this podcast over the last several years. The information they share is always valuable, but also they encourage your Spiritual and emotional well being too. I have learned a lot from Jeff and the many hosts and guests.
