I’m in uni, trying to enter the finance world and money maze feels like a hidden gem in learning about the corporate world.

Simon is engaging. I love his voice..

Noor Sweid was brilliant. I liked how she addressed the conflict of investment in the Middle East with the respective politics of the countries. Listening to her opened up my eyes to the different and cool ways people are specialising in the investment world.

Keep up the good work Money Maze!!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What Do You Call an Institution That Can Play Anywhere in the Capital Stack? With Sixth Street’s Co-CIO & Co-President Julian Salisbury
Q: What piece of advice do you give to a young person thinking about a career in finance?
Be a constant learner and treat finance like a competitive sport, staying curious, learning continuously, and using available resources (including AI tools) to develop skills and resilience.
What Do You Call an Institution That Can Play Anywhere in the Capital Stack? With Sixth Street’s Co-CIO & Co-President Julian Salisbury
Q: Do you think that your preference is always to look at the growth industries above the legacy industries, or is there something else going on?
The preference is to pursue areas where there is less capital available and where growth opportunities exist, recognizing that enduring, large-scale opportunities may require a broader, multi-asset approach rather than a single focus on growth sectors.
What Do You Call an Institution That Can Play Anywhere in the Capital Stack? With Sixth Street’s Co-CIO & Co-President Julian Salisbury
Q: But before we get to Sixth Street, tell me a little bit about what your perspective is on the merchant banking world.
We discussed how merchant banking has evolved from balance-sheet heavy, 'at the top of the house' activity to a model that relies more on client capital and third-party funding, while still seizing opportunities across the capital stack and maintaining flexibility to adapt to market conditions.
The Future of Flight? Building an Electric Aviation Business with the Man in the Pilot’s Seat - Kyle Clark, CEO & Founder, BETA Technologies
Q: How does BETA view the economics of operating an electric aircraft over its lifetime?
The initial sale of the aircraft is modest, but the long-term margins come from high-margin battery sales and energy storage, with operating costs dramatically lower than conventional aircraft due to battery economics.
Is the 60/40 Portfolio Still Fit for Purpose? State Street Investment Management’s CEO, Yie Hsin Hung, Discusses Flows, Valuations, EM, Private Equity Returns and Tokenisation, the Next Investment Frontier
Q: What is the stance on tokenization and crypto in portfolios?
Tokenization is viewed as a disruption with potential to broaden access and enable on-chain investment in a way that still ties into traditional custody and accounting. Crypto exposure is not currently in SSIM's core strategic allocation, but they are watching and researching it closely.
