My dad always liked to talk

Politics , no matter what ‘side’ you were on. It’s one of the things I’ve missed now that he’s gone. Listening to Jorge and Paola Ramos’ podcast is like going back in time, around our dinner table talking about the daily events and learning about not only the politics but the ‘age’ point of views. I look forward to each new podcast and hope that they never end. Thank you for using your voices and helping others see the multifaceted views of Latinos and other marginali... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Trump Says Cuba is Next. What Does That Mean for its Future?
Q: So what does all of this mean for the Cuban people?
The discussion outlines a looming policy shift that could bring short-term relief through food and medicine imports and private-sector growth, but political change remains uncertain; the immediate humanitarian needs—power, fuel, food—are driving the urgency, while analysts debate whether economic openings will eventually lead to meaningful political reform.
In the Age Of Trump, Gavin Newsom Has Decided to Fight Fire With Fire
Q: Do you want to be president of the United States?
Newsom responds that he wants to be present at the moment and acknowledges the question, signaling openness to the possibility while emphasizing a focus on current leadership and the moment rather than making premature commitments.
Kleber Mendonça Filho on The Secret Agent and the Stories Brazil Can’t Forget
Q: Do you think the current United States mirrors the early days of Brazil's dictatorship?
Kleber suggests that while not identical, there is a worrying trend toward democratic erosion in many places, including the US, and emphasizes the importance of vigilance, institutions, and civic courage.
Kristi Noem is Fired + Trump Widens His Reach
Q: What was it like to interview Sarah Palin in 2008, and how did that relationship evolve with the political landscape changing around them?
The conversation recounts the challenges of securing the interview, Palin's uncertainty at the time, and how John McCain ultimately intervened to ensure the Spanish-language interview could still happen, illustrating how media dynamics shift with national campaigns.
Kristi Noem is Fired + Trump Widens His Reach
Q: Paola, you grew up in Spain, mostly with your mom, your grandparents, and then you came to the United States when you were almost about to, when you came in 10th grade to the United States. How is it to be getting to know each other this well as adults, as humans and people, as colleagues?
They describe a deep, evolving collaboration where years apart in childhood gave way to a strong professional bond, built on shared history and mutual respect, with a focus on leveraging their different experiences to analyze the region and tell its stories.
