  • Genuine and Sincere

Adam’s approach to gambling is met with a combination of genuine and sincere space for others. He can sit with a difficult conversation, disagree, inquire, and find space to learn. It’s clear his passion drives him to be a loud resource in a space that is too often met with silence. Highly recommend.

  • Captivating

This pod is one of the best I’ve ever listened to. The design with Adams personal shares at the beginning is calming, funny, interesting, relatable. I’ve often thought the way he tells his story is like listening to an audiobook. Thank you for showing up in a meaningful way. Sending my love, respect and support.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 103 - Come All The Way In, Sit All The Way Down
Q: What shifted to make you pursue honest recovery the second time around?
This time I embraced 100% honesty and sought close connection with other women in recovery, leaned into support networks, and prioritized staying connected to a higher power and a sponsor.
Ep. 103 - Come All The Way In, Sit All The Way Down
Q: How long did it take before you got help after that realization?
It took many years. I entered recovery around 2020, after a long period of secrecy and concealing finances from my husband, and finally sought help through GA and online meetings during the pandemic.
Ep. 103 - Come All The Way In, Sit All The Way Down
Q: Do you remember the first time when you realized you had a problem with gambling?
Yes. I remembers the exact moment of the big win that crossed the line from being a recreational gambler to something more problematic, realizing that a single $10 scratch-off could lead to a much bigger, dangerous pattern.
Ep. 96 - Meeting People Where They Are in Louisiana with Meagan Dunham
Q: What are the similarities and differences you've noticed between gambling and other addictions you've worked with?
Stigma and access to care are common themes across addictions, including HIV and gambling; the way we approach treatment and outreach—reducing shame, engaging peers, and ensuring safe entry points—are where the programs align and differ in details depending on the community.
Ep. 94 - I Paid For My Seat with Sal Guarino
Q: What circumstances led you to commit fully to GA?
Sal describes a midlife crisis at 45 where he felt he was at a crucial point in his life, prompted by personal issues and stress, leading him to take recovery more seriously.
