I look forward to every episode and learn something every time.
I’m in Montreal. I’m not a farmer. Maybe I aspire to be one–I can’t yet say. When are you too old to start?
The reasons you give for farming, the inescapable political underpinnings, the creativity and craftsmanship, and the struggles you face to make a living from this work in today’s economic and social context–this resonates with me in a profound way. It can’t qualify that statement in this little review. Just know this, that your work and the act of sharing these stories is important, and n... more
In a good way. Thanks.
I read james’s book a couple of years ago during the Covid nonsense and I found it inspirational. I came across the podcast recently and I’ve been binge listening to all the episodes. Such an education thank you for sharing the knowledge and also your contacts. I absolutely love abundant minded people as a result. I’ve been inspired to buy my own farm and start farming for the first time.
Thanks for this great work

Listeners engage with practical farming wisdom, regenerative agriculture, and local food systems through thoughtful conversations with farmers, chefs, educators, and authors. Episodes often center on small-scale, soil-first farming, seasonality, ethical sourcing, and building community around food, with frequent emphasis on authenticity, education, and the economics of running a sustainable farm. A notable strength is the long-form, personal storytelling that ties farming ethics to real-world outcomes, from kitchen connections to farm-to-table ecosystems, making it valuable for practitioners seeking actionable insights, sponsors aligned with local food systems, and guests who bridge farming with cuisine, education, and policy.
