When I started listening to The Mariner, it quickly became my favourite sailing podcast. I simply enjoy listening to CSM chatting about the tricks of his trade and telling stories of the great oceans. Professional sailing has never been so approachable. I am sure that I will find myself in a position some time in the future when I try to solve a problem on board and think of his words. 5 star podcast! Thank you Chris!
Thought I’d already found all the sailing podcasts worth listening to, but I was wrong. One episode in and it’s some of the most valuable educational content I’ve come across to date. Thanks!
As a new skipper, I appreciate the insightful comments that allow text book knowledge, real world practise, and modern seamanship to coalesce in a reasonable and practical way. As far as I’m concerned the more practical and nitty-gritty the better! Thanks!
Are you comparing a Hollywood movie to a real life vessel emergency situation? Did I mis hear ? Surely not.. the movie is a drawn out fabrication of poor skills applied to an otherwise pretty quick demise..
Listening to this podcast ought to be counted as sea time.
How a series of small things can add up to disaster is unpacked in a logical and easy to understand way.
I’m probably going to avoid many mishaps as a result of this podcast.
