  • Part actual play, Part self-indulgent behind the scenes, all crap.

    Bleh. Just. Bleh.

This podcast would be a lot better if they focused on playing rather than their information segments.

The role-playing advice episodes have way too much banter and not enough substance, and the substantive bits aren’t really helpful for anyone with more than a session’s worth of experience in an RPG. Their advice tends to go like this:

    “Let’s talk about problem players.”

“I think you should talk to problem players about why they’re a problem.”

“Yes that’s a good idea.” more

Lords of the Dungeon 88: Becoming The Character
Q: What steps can players take to improve their ability to stay in character and act more deeply during sessions?
Panelists suggest practical tactics like practicing different vocalizations, preparing immersive scene descriptions, and developing in-character quotes or catchphrases ahead of sessions; they stress that consistency and willingness to engage with the character's mindset are more important than perfect accents, and that players should design their PCs with the intention to stay in character throughout play.
Lords of the Dungeon 88: Becoming The Character
Q: Hex and the City asks, When it comes time for your group to decide what the next game and/or setting will be, how do you come to that decision? Does one person pitch, or is it a long group discussion? How do dissenting opinions get handled?
The group emphasizes a mix of approaches: sometimes a campaign idea or setting is pushed by one person who wants to run it, other times a new game drops and draws everyone's interest; in any case, decisions tend to happen through discussion, with several voices contributing until a consensus or majority forms, sometimes requiring a temporary pause for a break.
